Wonderful article about how Paul got his beloved sheepdog Martha. It includes a rare photo of Paul with Martha and the other Beatles.

Thanks for posting this, Joyce! Enjoyed reading this very much. Didn't know that Martha's original name was Knickers

You're welcome LadyLeslie! Very sweet to see Martha in your photo avatar.

I don't think the name Knickers would be quite so scandalous here in the US at that time.

I love the Beatles photo in the article. Paul holding up Martha with a little help from John, Ringo holding a puppy, and George holding up Ringo lol

            Another from same photoshoot:

              and another...

                couldn't separate the 2...from maccareport...

Thanks, Joyce! Have always loved Martha. I work at a puppetry center for children, and I met a puppeteer there who is a huge Beatles fan and created a special show about Martha, and it's on YouTube.

He's done Beatle puppet shows at the FanFests for many years now

Cute show. He has a very original concept!

Thanks, Joyce! Thought the Martha puppet was especially cute

                        Very cute Martha Puppet show

Thanks for another rare photo, Nancy R!

Perhaps they went to Paul's house after that photoshoot? wink

Yes, pretty sure that is Paul's house.

The colour photographs by Henry Grossman were taken at "Sunny Heights", Ringo's house in Weybridge.

Does anyone know the name of Ringo's poodle, that he was holding in the photos that Nancy posted?

I read somewhere John had cats as pets, and didn't own any dogs. Not sure about George, but he probably had pets, too.

I believe that the poodle was named Tiger.

Was I dreaming when I read somewhere Paul wanted to call "Martha, My Dear" song "Knickers"--and "Jane Asher was disgusted," LOL

It was in the article that was posted at the beginning of this thread. :
