Gosh, I just watched this again. Interesting comments about Paul's songwriting method, and his and John's collaborative method. He didn't use the word method, but I think everyone knows what I mean. So great to watch it all the way through again.

There was more interviews with Paul before this interview.

A snip of the first interview was used in the McCartney/Albert Maysles film, "THE LOVE YOU MAKE" on the concert for New York City after the 9/11 attacks.

Also Ringo appeared on a couple of shows.

Howard Stern is extremely informed and asked excellent, intelligent questions, and Paul is a master at answering them. What a combo for wonderful interviews!

I enjoyed watching these too. Although I could tell there were some questions that made Paul uncomfortable, he always knew the right thing to say as a comeback, without having to answer, and he seems very relaxed and down to earth in these interviews.

Was looking at HS's Wikipedia page, and thought it was interesting he studied Transcendental Meditation in the 1970s, and interviewed the Maharishi, which is something he has in common with The Beatles.

Wow. I thought Paul looked comfortable with him, so there was some sort of relationship there. Maybe that was it or part of it.

Yeah, that could have something to do with it I think.

The only part of these interviews that I was disappointed in, was at 10:00 mark on the 2001 one. Paul had opened up and shared something very personal about how he felt Linda was still with him in spirit, that somehow it comforted him to be able to talk to her in his mind, etc. I guess because I read about Howard S's work with transcendental meditation I expected he would be more open to spiritual things, like Paul had expressed, and I didn't like it that Howard sort of made fun of that and cracked a few jokes about what Paul had said. In my opinion it has taken Paul a long time to work through Linda's death, and he was probably still going through that at the time of the 2001 interview, and he was opening up about that, which he probably wouldn't ordinarily do. Just wish Howard would have been a little more sensitive about that, and not cracked the jokes... but for the most part I enjoyed watching these interviews Smile

Exactly. I felt the same way in the other places where he cut Paul off.
