I still don't like that Paul does this.

At the concert I attended this summer, the woman had already been on stage. I absolutely will never understand why somebody feels entitled to be on stage twice.

Not sure if I like that girl hijacking Paul's stage, his concert, to announce she was coming out as gay. He had a funny look on his face. Wasn't the appropriate venue, perhaps. You think?

Paul was one who picked her! She didn't "hijack" his stage! I was there. Was I disappointed he didn't pick me, a fan for over 53 years? Of course! But it was his decision.
The only reason he had a "funny look" was because she was there with her dad so obviously, unless he was blind, knew already what she had written on her sign.

I'm not so sure that Paul does the picking ALL of time. I think his "crew" does most of it...but I may be wrong.

I think he picks...which is why it always happens after the encore break...that's when he tells his crew who he wants. Because it seems to be people whose signs Paul has read aloud during the earlier part of the show. The girl in Duluth, for example. She wasn't even on the floor, she was in the lower level, but hers was one of the signs Paul chose to read out loud. Plus, it's Paul, I just think he is the one to decide who gets to come up. Very Happy

I was in the center section, 4th row, and the girl was behind me about 4 or 5 rows and to my right, but on the floor. The family of 4 dressed in Pepper outfits were several rows directly behind me.

Agree with you, I think the people who are requesting something in their signs, like "Sign Me for my birthday" usually get called up.. because there's a specific request. If you just write a positive message like "Thanks for the great music" you won't get called up because there wouldn't be a reason to, which makes sense Smile

Most interesting is the original! She was from Canada & had a pencil drawing of Paul that she did. There was a thread for her her & for this subject...many times! I believe her name is...Cristelle from Canada. From 2011.

The original was a fan from California but it happened at his concert at Halifax Commons on July 11, 2009.

"Instead, McCartney returned the love by being chatty and personable all evening long, sometimes addressing fans directly if he liked one of the signs held up to get his attention. For example, after he read one out loud: "Would you please autograph my arm, so that I can get it tattooed?" he invited the young woman up on stage, where he did pen her arm, to delighted shrieks from her and the audience."

As long as you brought it up, I think it's only fair that I offer my opinion of what getting on stage with Paul means to me.

Being 9 years old when the Beatles came to America in '64, I can honestly say that I am a "lifelong" Beatles (but especially) Paul McCartney fan!

I've been extremely fortunate to attend every one of his American Tours, and if that wasn't enough, am lucky to have a son who shares those interests.

Over the years, my son and I attended as many McCartney shows in the U.S. that we were able to.

To have Paul McCartney call us up on stage, not once but twice (!!), is in a word...UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!

It's hard for me to imagine that anyone that has as much interest in Paul to be on this board, would want to "play down" such an "amazing" moment in someones life.
I'm sure their opinion would change drastically if they were given the same experience.

On a related topic, I believe the "first" call up on stage were the "Triplets" in 2005. So thrilled that we were there in Philly to see it!!!

Yes, I believe that Audrey was the first one to get an autograph tattoo.

DrivinFan, the first fans I remember seeing on stage were back in 2002, the Ft Lauderdale show..2 long-time fans were brought up to dance during I Saw Her Standing There.

Ok, I was at the front too but on the left, so the angle I had when I saw her sign made it look like she was in the lowers. Embarassed
