I tend to agree. The stage is a sacred space.

Bringing fans on stage, while exciting for them, brings the show to a halt.

I don't need to see how human my rock idols are. I need them to rock.

I agree, don't like the bringing the fans on stage. I pay money to hear Mr. McCartney sing and play not sign some people's signs or body parts.

I understand we all have opinions, however I guarantee yours would change if you had the chance of joining Mr. McCartney on stage.

I am not starstruck. Being in the presence of a celebrity does not impress me.

Now would I like to casually chat with Macca at a coffee shop? Have a chance to discuss his music and its importance to me over a cup of joe?

Absolutely.

But WTF would I do on his stage, other than standing there looking stupid?

Nobody said you were starstruck Audi! But if one of Paul's security came up to you and asked if you'd like to go up on stage with Paul (you sing & play guitar & bass!) to jam, you would not decline! Of course this would never happen because you wouldn't be waving a sign or anything like that. That's the only way these people get called up (the lucky dogs!) There is virtually no chance I'm going to ever meet him or get a hug any other way. (unless I want to deplete my retirement fund by about $40,000 and meet him through an auction!)

Well, that's different. Yes, I would love to jam with him and his band. Green Day does stuff like that all the time.

But in the real world, all of the people selected by security are white females with no interest in playing at all. Or some couple with a bogus marriage-proposal stunt.

It is very unlikely that a brutha, such as myself, would be approached by security to share Macca's stage.

The only time security is interested in me is when they're watching me like a hawk to make sure I'm not a threat, like they did in Atlanta '09.

Sorry...still a sore spot for me.

Thanks for the replies. Laughing

About the signs - do you think he also picks people with sings that make him laugh, or does it have to be something like PLZ PAUL SIGN MY FOREHEAD AND I'M GONNA TATTOO IT RIGHT THERE I SWEAR.
Also, I don't have a child, but I look pretty young...

Sorry my hometown treated you that way Audi! I know "most" concertgoers of Paul's are white or Latino, but jeeze, Atlanta has had a black mayor (different ones) for years and is majority black in population! Maybe that security guy just had the hots for you! (You are a delicious hunk of chocolate!) Laughing

Both--some make him laugh, some pull on his heartstrings (He read mine and went "Oh!" in Memphis, but didn't call anyone up. Crying or Very sad Mine said "My doctor played your music during my brain surgery! Hug?" It was big and professionally made by a fellow boardie [you know who you are and many thanks] but the gods were not with me. He does love the Moms with kids, that's for sure.

P.S. My tumor was a benign meningioma (not cancer thank God) Surgery was in Jan. 2011. My surgeon is also a huge Beatles/Paul fan.

An overweight white woman will never be selected either. It's a waste of time. I paid to see Paul, not the stunts.

Worst was in Philly last summer when two of the three people selected to go on stage had been on stage before. That was so wrong. Totally wrong.

I would not go onstage. I think it is a waste of concert goers time they have paid lots of money for seeing Sir Paul and Band and it has become a circus. The Leila girl was cute, but the other groupies and marriage things are getting old, imo.

Sir Elton doesn't ask people on his stage during normal venues, not counting Vegas.
And I noticed that he doesn't like signs waving all over obstructing everyone's view of the stage and he will walk right past a waving sign and not autograph it. Which is good for me as I am a petite five foot one inch.

If Sir Paul wants certain people to be showcased they should be asked backstage and keep it on the down low. He is the star, not the audience. Wink

He should only call up people during soundcheck, if time permits, imo.
