I was in East Rutherford, New Jersey to see Paul's last show of the tour in the US. This concert is called Paul's Birthday show! A friend and I sat in the 4th row from the stage, Billy Joel was sitting right in front of me! As all of you know, Bruce "The Boss" Springsteen made an appearance on stage as well as Jon BonJovi to do the honor in singing Happy Birthday to Paul! WHAT A SHOW!
@wandy Have been there 3 times (with a tour group in 2011 & 2016) and my friend & I took the train there to Henley-On-Thames on our own this past Sept. 3rd. Ate at the Row Barge Pub where George used to always go (walking distance from Friar Park) Go to the Beatleweek 2022 under the Yesterday forum - I posted some pics there. https://maccaboard.paulmccartney.com/topic/8329/beatleweek-2022?page=1
It varies, but the 3 I've been to (2013, 2014, 2017) started either at 5 or 5:30, then we ate afterwards. All those concerts were scheduled to start at 8, but usually were at least 20 minutes or more late starting. I've never done limo watch, so maybe somebody else could answer what time he usually arrives. I remember at one of those concerts his limo pulled right into the arena by the stage (on our right, stage left) for soundcheck. He must have been running late I think.
Was also in Knoxville. There is definitely stubble LOL.
LetMeRollIt, where the heck were the back gates? Media told everyone to get there early for parking and as a result, there was a huge cluster at all the doors when they opened, and it took ages to get inside. Very disorganized and the heat didn't help. We were there very early for limo watch and then had a ton of time to waste because Paul arrived before 4:30, which is super-early for him. If I had known how bad the doors would be, we would have camped out near one so as to be first in.
Knoxville had a great, loud crowd which Paul acknowledged several times. His voice definitely sounds better live. He did take a drink before the platform solo set, and also took another one right before Live and Let Die.
John - Coming Up gets done in soundcheck sometimes and does sound great with the horn section. It would be fun if he put it into the set.
And it seems that Women and Wives has disappeared; I thought he was doing it on alternate nights, but during a discussion about it after the show, I checked setlist.fm, and it seems that it has not been performed since Fort Worth. Which is disappointing. I am glad I caught it in Seattle (at a show and a soundcheck).
Will see if I can remember anything else unique to Knoxville... 🙂
Front row "D", Always happy to see you and the crew!!! As usual, another GREAT concert .
Likewise! It was a great show and happy to see you!!!
