I have lived my whole life being an Empath.
Not just being empathic, but an actual Empath.

As you can imagine the world and social media can
be overwhelming at times. People can be cruel and/or
not understand how your brain is wired as they are not
experiencing their surroundings in the same way at the same time.
I have found this state of being
to be a blessing and a curse. However, I cannot change who I am.
After a lifetime of fighting it, I make the best of it all now that I understand
      myself better.

If you are an Empath, or know someone who is, it would be
helpful to read this article I found and do further research,
      I hope this helps someone.

Have you ever seen this episode of Star Trek (the original series)?
        It was called "The Empath."

I love Star Trek and remember "The Empath" episode now.
She is a science fiction version of a real life Empath. She is an Empath on LSD x 25.
In the real world most empaths are not noticed out of the ordinary, just blend right in to society. She tries to engage people's minds, in my life I do just the opposite.
          Her role is sensationalized.
I met a lady the other week and she is an Empath as well. It was nice to meet someone like me.

That is why I posted my link to avoid stereotypes of the empathic life, and to let everyone know it is okay to be yourself and not to worry about what people think of you. Which applies to everyone in society. No matter what you feel or do not feel.

That is a great episode of Star Trek and I am sure in some alternate universe, and indeed here if someone should fine tune their abilities, there might exist a girl just like that one. It would be nice to be able to heal people with your mind. I think that can be done now.

The Blessing And Curse Aspects Are The Same With Those Who Are Universally Aware!

John//oo\\... and many of us have dealt with this reality.

            Excellent Post Kittay!

The internet is a hostile place whether you're an empath or a sociopath. Anonymity makes it easier for people to be bullies and make everyone as miserable as they are.

On the other hand, social media allows us to talk to people in parts of the world we'll never visit. People who are polite and civil can learn a lot about the world online.

Sites like Youtube are amazing. You can hear pretty much any song you can think of and watch episodes from 40 year old TV shows. Just don't read the comments.

Where else are you going to see this?

I was really an "empath" as a child, I felt everybody's sufferings as if they were my own. Would weep rivers of tears. I picked up on their moods. And at movies and books. I recall crying up a storm reading "The Secret Garden" and it wasn't even all that sad. Daddy would exhort, "You have to be tough. You have to get tough." (Especially in our family.) And he was telling himself that. He was a funeral director, dealt with death and grief daily, up close, it must have been fascinating at times. But also it could be real hard. And Mama sure would give him a hard time...
Hailey Comet mentioned psychopaths--they don't have any empathy or conscience at all, and you'd totally prefer to be the opposite of them. No matter how much it can hurt.

I'm an Empath. I don't get the hard parts because it is one thing to feel someone's pain and emotions, it's another thing to care. The two are not mutually connected.
Yeah, it's hard. Like when my boyfriend was in so much pain and having problems just before he lost his foot last spring. I knew something was wrong even though he kept telling me he was fine. That was a situation I cared but I long ago gave up caring for every stranger. (I do still help them if I can like if they're stranded or something)

I've heard about the horrors a sociopath puts an Empath through. I have had sociopaths recently do horrible things to my life.
I am teaching them about emotions Rage. Anger. Hatred. Not all emotions are wussy and they're finding it out the hard way. he doesn't even get why I won't just let the awful things go
Because I hate you, man. I have to show him this

I am literally in psychological recovery from a nasty bunch
of people who must be at least sociopaths.
I even just discovered men were dating me for money.
I am physically ill thinking about it.
                    Karma.

I am physically and emotionally ill from recovery from a bunch that I thought were my friends for about 12 years that hurt me three years ago that even escalated to ID theft for me and family members and I feel like I am still rebuilding my life. They hurt me in a way that took a good chunck of my emotional resources
                      So I understand about it.

But there are some days where I have high energy still and that shows lots of hope

^^ So sorry for you Kathryn.

They did ID theft to myself and my loved ones too.
                        Still going on.
Destroyed my childhood home and other home.
Crippled my Mom for life. She is in pain almost all the time.
Took away my trust in people for maybe the rest of my life.

Then they leave. They are cowards.

I am happy you have high energy at times.
I do too, and try to remember there are good people in the world.
Keep yourself busy and my thoughts and comfort to you.

We just have to be more careful whom we trust and give our hearts and time to.

                        <3
