I arrived in London at 9.30am local time Wednesday morning, took my suitcase to the hotel and checked in, then went to Paddington station where I would meet Audrey, Sharon and Angela...we couldn't find each other at first, but finally did! It was soooooooo great meeting those two crazy California girls
I don't think I've ever talked both so MUCH and so FAST in my entire life than I have done in the last three days After we took turns going to our hotels and dropping our suitcases off, we all went to Abbey Road. ;) Sharon wanted to check out the Roundhouse so she went off on her own. We weren't supposed to be there until Thursday morning, but Sharon called us that they were giving out numbered papers at the Roundhouse for the day after, and we should hurry down there, because the numbers would give us early access to collect our wristbands and join the queue to get in. So there we went to the Roundhouse...very nice venue, we managed to get some numbers for Björn and Therèse also, because they weren't going to arrive until in the evening. We were numbers 46-51 I think...or something like that. Björn's flight was delayed so we didn't meet up with him anymore on Wednesday night, Angela and I were tired anyway and we had to get up at 6am the next day so we made it an early night.
Thursday morning we hurried to the Roundhouse and met Björn and Therèse, then joined the numbered queue to get the wristbands....when we got them, we immediately joined the queue at around 9am (yes, that was ten hours of waiting outside for us, but it was so worth it)...Björn and Therèse were actually the only sane ones that day and they went into town, but we snuck them with us in the queue later...we asked the people around us if it was ok and they didn't seem to have any problem with two more people joining, so.....
Anyway, we have been cold that day, and a little wet (thank god Audrey had the blanket from her hotel room) and I was mostly ok but my feet.....god my feet were FROZEN! We could freely move in and out of the queue to get food and drinks or go to the bathroom, so no problem at all there. We also met some very nice people....Pat from Buffalo, NY for exampe who already went to 65 Paul concerts ( ) and the Spanish guy who was first in the queue at the signing last November and who I have seen in the video reports for Paris last Monday too! And so many more...Andy and Fiona from SF, dcbeatles64 and kink from SF, Peter too and who else am I forgetting? Too many people....so queueing actually went pretty fast, and soon Björn and Therèse joined the queue with us (Audrey and Sharon were about 15 people in front of us I think) and the doors were opening!!! OMG the excitement!!!! They didn't know what to do with this crazy bunch of people at the roundhouse so it was a bit of wait to get us upstairs to the main space in the roundhouse without all of us RUNNING up the stairs....but the stage was HUGE and Björn, Therèse, Angela and I were THIRD ROW!!!! I can't begin to tell you how unbelievably cool that was...I've been to other Paul concerts, but I was always way in the back and he was just this little figure on a stage, but to be on third row and have an amazing view and OH MY GOD!!! I still can't believe we were on third row...it was surreal!!! Anyway, it was so hot inside but who cares, we were going to see Paul!!!! FINALLY it was 8pm and the gig was starting. Paul looked AMAZING! And the was in great shape, I have had so much fun, my throat is still hurting from singing all the songs with him, and jumping up and down...I had the time of my life!! And the best thing is I could share it with people from here, that was so great....to go to a Paul concert together with people you met online....it was fantastic!!!
My favorite moment was Here Today. The whole Roundhouse was singing to all of his songs, but with Here Today everyone fell silent and listened to his amazing song for John...very emotional! Blackbird was right after that I think, and that one was so emotional too...first Beatles song I ever learned to play on my guitar *sigh* He was very cute too when he messed up the lyrics to Got To Get You Into My Life and he pulled this face...you wished you could just hug him!! I don't need to tell you again I had the most amazing time of my life!
After the concert we all went to Audrey's hotel room, had Belgian chocolate, Californian wine, Dutch stroopwafels and some other tasty snacks and we watched the gig again on tv, singing again and trying to spot us in the audience!!! Such a great time! It was 2 or 3 am before we finally went to bed I think that night!!!! No sleeping for me, still too much adrenaline! And I don't think Angela had the best of nights of sleep too We were much too hyper
Friday morning we were all meeting again, because on Wednesday when we went to Abbey Road, someone had told us Paul usually has breakfast in this place near Abbey Road, and of course he wasn't going to be in there, but hey, we had a nice breakfast, and I had a great hot chocolate made with Belgian chocolate there! Then we all went back to Abbey Road to take our pictures crossing and writing on the wall, and to Paul's house again...then back to the Beatles shop to buy some stuff...and then we split up...Audrey and Sharon went shopping I think, and Björn, Therèse, Angela and I first went to have lunch where we sat and talked a long time And then we were going to go to Mme. Tussaud's, but the queue was even longer then for Paul : so it wasn't worth the wait and we took the bus to the neighbourhood of the Tower Bridge and the Tower of London but then we ended up having a coffee and sitting and talking some more Later we met up with Audrey and Sharon again for dinner in a Thai restaurant and we talked and talked and talked SOME MORE!!! Unfortunately after that it was time to have our goodbyes, at least to the Bear and Therèse, because they had an early flight, so we weren't going to see them anymore today....man, I hate saying goodbye...especially because we all had such a great time together!!!
This morning was checking out of the hotel and going to find a place of put our suitcases, then we went to Waterloo station were I was going to leave by train and Audrey and Sharon were going to meet us there to say goodbye, which was a bit of an adventure because two subway lines were closed and that was very BAD!! Angela and I went for a drink and shop for souvenirs a bit and just sat on a bench near the London Eye enjoying the view and the experience! Anyway, we still managed to see Audrey and Sharon and say goodbye and share hugs and all that..... And then it was off to Belgium again with me...
