I can only presume Paul thinks he will live to be 100, or simply doesn't care about his solo catalogue. We have had one reissue - Ram - in 18 months. 18 months!!! If we are to assume the next batch -- Venus & Mars, etc. - won't be out until May next year (following the previous pattern), that is one reissue in 2 years.
I can't be bothered to do the maths on how long it will take to get his entire catalogue out at this rate, but I do know I will be a lot older. Instead, we get the 'Live Kisses' DVD which, though nice, is totally superfluous. If you asked most fans what they would rather have had this Xmas, I'm sure the vast majority would've chosen the next lot of reissues.
If Paul, or his 'people', think that by staggering the reissues this way it will garner more publicity in the music press, well, I think he/they are deluded. Interest in Ram dipped well below the previous releases, and I can't think Red Rose Speedway or Speed of Sound will do much better. Of course, we may have a new album next year which, though very welcome, will undoubtedly only serve to put a block on further reissues for a while.
Of course, it's entirely up to Paul what he does with his music. But its very frustrating for us fans. If he's really serious about his solo catalogue, he might move things on a bit quicker. I know this is a pipe dream, but what about this schedule for 2013?
V&M/SoS/WOA - March
Wildlife/RRS - June
LT/BTTE/1979 live album - October.
