Remasters schedule is a joke.

I can only presume Paul thinks he will live to be 100, or simply doesn't care about his solo catalogue. We have had one reissue - Ram - in 18 months. 18 months!!! If we are to assume the next batch -- Venus & Mars, etc. - won't be out until May next year (following the previous pattern), that is one reissue in 2 years.

I can't be bothered to do the maths on how long it will take to get his entire catalogue out at this rate, but I do know I will be a lot older. Instead, we get the 'Live Kisses' DVD which, though nice, is totally superfluous. If you asked most fans what they would rather have had this Xmas, I'm sure the vast majority would've chosen the next lot of reissues.

If Paul, or his 'people', think that by staggering the reissues this way it will garner more publicity in the music press, well, I think he/they are deluded. Interest in Ram dipped well below the previous releases, and I can't think Red Rose Speedway or Speed of Sound will do much better. Of course, we may have a new album next year which, though very welcome, will undoubtedly only serve to put a block on further reissues for a while.

Of course, it's entirely up to Paul what he does with his music. But its very frustrating for us fans. If he's really serious about his solo catalogue, he might move things on a bit quicker. I know this is a pipe dream, but what about this schedule for 2013?

      V&M/SoS/WOA - March
      Wildlife/RRS - June
      LT/BTTE/1979 live album - October.

      If only...

Couldn't agree more. While I didn't like the Lennon reissue of the whole lot in one big lump reissue that barely got any notice, Paul is taking things in the other extreme. Reissuing one new album every 3-4 months would still get the press to take notice and would allow for the "new look at his previous solo work" that he appears to be after, but this current schedule is milking it WAY too much...

There stretching out the releases to make more money, but in 5 years CD circulation will most likely have shrunk quite a bit anyway!

You may have answered your own question.

Playing a few songs from the featured re-release in concert could possibly help the sales figures a bit.

Band on the run, Jet, 1985 and Mrs Vandebilt featured in the setlist at the time when "Band on the Run" was re-released. Maybe I'm amazed has featured regularly on this tour. Every night played only once or twice. Nothing from "McCII" or "Ram" has been played. (apart from an occasional Ram on).

I simply don't understand why a couple of songs from the current re-release can't be worked into the setlist. It makes no sense at all!

I agree that the schedule has been frustratingly slow but at this point in time I'd rather have new projects than rehashes of old albums every time. McCartney ain't gonna be with us forever but remasters of old albums can happen with or without him.

Right now, I'd lock him in a studio and not let him leave until he drops

I hope he meant: "drops" an album.

And you guys care about re-issues, why? All the albums are available somewhere if you want them. I hope they never re-issue another CD ever. Just my 2 cents.

I think that the reality is that PAUL cares about them, especially since the critics are suddenly in love with the albums that, when released, weren't always shown much love. Since the first remaster(s) got so much positive attention, I knew we were going to get the rest, no matter what.

His career is winding down as he hits 70, not that he's stopping, mind you, but in reality how much more are we going to get? He's wanting to boost up his legacy, and who can blame him? The one area he's not being slagged off in is the remasters, so why would he walk away from that project?

Hmm. I don't think that is at all the case. In fact I would argue just the opposite: that Ram has been Paul's most successful reissue -- sales wise and critically.

How do you figure that "interest dipped" compared to Paul's previous reissues? The Ram reissue hit No. 24 on the Billboard chart and was No. 35 on the British Official Chart. That was far better than either the McCartney or McCartney II reissues, neither of which even charted in the top 100 in the US. (McCartney made it to No. 88 in the UK in the week after its release.) In addition, Ram stayed in the Amazon Top 100 for weeks and weeks after it came out -- unlike any of Paul's other reissues.

And the Ram reissue sold BETTER in the U.S. than the Band on the Run reissue, which only reached No. 29 in the States the week aft its release. The BOTR reissue did sell a bit better in the UK, reaching No. 17 in its first week. But Ram's sales had more staying power. I just checked and the Ram album is at No. 766 on the U.S. Amazon Best Sellers list, BOTR is No. 1,639, McCartney is N. 4,026, and McCartney II (interestingly!) is No. 2,631. (Compare that to Lennon's reissues where the highest-selling album of John's is right now on Amazon is Imagine at No. 3,017 and the next highest is Double Fantasy at No. 7,088.)

In addition, Ram also got spectacular reviews -- better than any other reissue. Both McCartney and McCartney II got good reviews but Ram got GREAT reviews. I don't see how interest dipped in any way.

And I think that's why he held off on another reissue this year -- because Ram is still selling well ("well" defined by the standards of today's struggling CD market, I mean).

Darn that Michelley...ALWAYS the voice of reason!!

I JUST WISH he'd hurry up and relase the enitire back catalogue remastered. Nothing apart from the current remastered albums and run devil run-present albvums available in the shops. Really desperate to gte hold of a copy of Flowers In The Dirt, and all the rest of the discography! Grr!

audi:Darn that Michelley...ALWAYS the voice of reason!!

                                      No, just a Ram obsessive.

I was shocked to see that McCartney II is at a higher sales rank on Amazon than McCartney. It's about time more people drank the McCartney II Kool-aid. Love, love, love that album. Just last week I read this nice review calling McCartney II "wonderful and bizarre" (both of which are true!) in the Houston paper:
