RINGO"S COMMENT ON PAUL/BONO LIVE PERFORMANCE

As for Beatles singer-bassist Paul McCartney opening London Live 8's concert alongside U2 with the Fab Four's Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, Starr says he liked it -- to a point.

"I saw Paul and Bono being fabulous and I saw four stupid guys in Pepper suits," said Starr of the four-man brass section who were dressed as Beatles lookalikes in the legendary colourful band outfits.

"I thought Paul should have worn the suit and Bono and Bob Geldof should have worn one. Like, real people should have worn them. Then it would have been a real statement. Just to have four silly guys in the back there, I thought was silly."

Starr says he wasn't invited to play drums with McCartney for his Live 8 performance, and didn't really want to discuss whether he would have liked to.

"Well, it's too late now. So let's not talk about the past. I was never asked to do it. I would have only done it, if I'd dressed up in me suit," he jokes. "That would have been a big condition on my part."

If this is from a reliable source, and Ringo definitely said that, I feel sorry for him. It's sad he's feeling sidelined.

It's from this interview he did gave

Ok, so it IS official. Awwww, we love you (((Ringo))). I would love him to come over to England and do some shows for us.

I get a little confused as to where Ringo's coming from given this comment in conjuntion with his previous comment that Paul and Ringo will never tour together. I figure the latter was true before even Ringo commented ever commented on it. But the way he said it had a measure of venom to it.

Personally, I feel sorry for the 4 "stupid" guys in Pepper suits who did a good job. I guess Ringo never saw the comments on this board about how "foolish" Paul would have looked in a Pepper suit. Maybe Paul did.

Make your mind up, Ringo - do you want to perform with Paul or not?

Performing at a special appearance, which they have done previously, is extremely different than "touring".

Guess some missed Paul's own statement that if he had worn a pepper suit, it would have been "cheesy"...

Ah, Ringo... well, we love you anyway.

Yes, Ringo we will always love you. I felt sorry for Ringo with the MSN chat. There were only about 20 people there. I just hope they didn't tell him how many people were there.

In the Radio Times Live 8 feature, a journalist said that Paul had told him he and Bono would be wearing a Sgt Pepper outfit.

I heard Paul, myself, interviewed live on Saturday by New York's 104.3FM radio station, backstage after the performance...he said Bono wanted him to do it....Paul said no as it would look "cheesy"...then the idea came up for the horn players to wear them and he had no problem with that.

Personally, I liked the four sgt. pepper beatle guys on stage, i thought it was a nice touch to a cool song, and I kinda saw it like it sort of symbolized the beatles being there at live 8, imo. But I respect Ringo's opinion.
I kinda feel bad for Ringo 'cuz I think he feels bad 'cuz he wasn't asked to play, but it's ok Ringo, WE LOVE YOU!!!

Can you explain to me what is meant by "cheesy"? My dictionary doens't explain this word

I loved the brass band in the Pepper suits. I don't understand why Ringo said it was stupid.

Sounds like Ringo is just feeling left out.

                                      poor Ringo...

It shouldn`t come as any surprise to any Beatles fans that Ringo is a bit of a grumpy old git!

I think there is some tensions actually beetwen Paul & Ringo...
