I was thinking that next month, since it would be Rusty's birthday,
to collect all the birthday messages and send them onto
Corinne/Martha and as a digest so that Rusty could get them from us
wishing him a happy birthday...good idea?

        Nice idea

          good idea.

My Underssing Underwater arrived today. I knew he could play, but that boy can sing too. A brilliant album that really works as a collection of songs. I totally love Hurt Myself and Electric Trains. Well done, Rusty - when's the next one coming out!!!!!!!

We've just received the album too and it's fantastic, we never realised either what a damned good singer Rusty is. It's a great album. My son is mad on Electric Trains. Parts of the album remind me of George Harrison's style. It's well worth buying.

              I agree.
I haven't listened to anything else since I received the cd. The tunes are really catchy.

                me neither!

We've just had the Russia concert on tv over here and wasn't Rusty great. The solo in Let It Be was brilliant and the one in Back In The USSR was just fabulous.

Did you see him "collapse" on the floor during Live and Let Die?

Beataholic:Did you see him "collapse" on the floor during Live and Let Die?

Yes. That always made me laugh. Did you see the more dramatic collapse at the end of the song on the BITUS dvd?

I'm back home after spending Christmas away with family and have just watched the Red Square Concert (I set the video to record it).

It was outstanding - especially because there were so many songs on it that were not in the BITUS dvd. I loved The Face and Two Of Us, they are two of my favourite songs ever.

It was especially cool to watch because it was recordeded just a few days before Paul played the RDS in Dublin - I was standing in the second row at that concert and it was soooo gooood to be there and to be that close!!!

The band surpassed themselves - Rusty's solos on Let It Be and Back In The USSR were just fantastic and Brian's work was great as always. Actually, it was cool to see how the band have changed since the BITUS dvd, they seemed so much more relaxed and comfortable on stage with each other. Plus they seemed to play a lot better. I didn't really notice it at the concert in Dublin becuase I was 2 rows away from Paul and it was all a bit surreal.

It was so touching to hear how the Beatles have influenced the people of Russia. The Beatles and Paul's music means so much to me, more that I can say, but seeing what it has done for the people of Russia - it is just amazing to see how it has changed and influenced the country.

The only criticism I have it that too many of the songs were cut short, I would have preferred to hear the full versions of them, probably most people would.

I thought that too. In fact, Rusty said in a magazine interview:

Yeah, I have to say the group has developed a lot. When we did the DVD we were still pretty green. As far as the band’s internal feel, the vocals and the relationship between everybody, the gear, the fine-tuning, the PA system, we’ve come a long way. It’s pretty amazing. The setlist has morphed a bit. I think it has gotten a lot better actually. I almost wish we had had the luxury of doing the DVD later.

I wish they would do the dvd again - A Back In Europe dvd would be great

It sure would. There has been a suggestion in another forum that a Concert For George syle release would be a good thing, with one disc having the full concert and then a second disc having a more documentary approach. I think that would be great - a full uninterrupted concert and then all the backstage stuff later.

                                  Found an article:

There's a great quote near the beginning!

Good Article! Rusty Anderson is an excellent musician and I highly recommend his "Undressing Underwater" CD! )

It's one of the best CDs I've bought in a long time. Rusty's lyrics melt my brain sometimes, thay really suck me in and make me think about things.

There's so much rubbish on the radio these days, it's very refreshing to come across an album like this.

                                        Fiona365099:

Yes - I agree. When you think of the status some of today's trash has, it seems so unfair that Rusty (and there must be loads more like him) work for 30 odd years, produce a brilliant album like UU and only a handful of people hear it.
I've never been short of reasons to love Macca, but one of the latest ones is introducing me to the brilliance that is Rusty Anderson. I'd still be in the dark if it hadn't've been for the tour.

Me too, I first saw him on the BITUS DVD. Funny how things come about sometimes. And if I hadn't discovered Rusty, I probably wouldn't have discovered his friend Zallen's music, or the cdbaby website. I hadn't heard of it before but I've bought loads of CDs there since. There is so much great music out there, unfortunately you have to dig a bit deeper than your local record shop.

Yes. The cdbaby webite is a good one. There are some really positive reviews about UU. I was really impressed with the way they handled the transaction and everything. That e-mail they send to say they've posted the cd just cracked me up and, considering it came across an entire ocean, it was a quick delivery. I'd buy from them again. I had a listen to some of the Zallen tracks (including Expensive Date - great title) and it sounded good.
