audi:I hate to say it, but Abe's comment about performing NEW in its entirety might be our latest "minty fresh" letdown.
All PR stuff. I stopped holding my breath on his enthusiastic claims about new material a long time ago. Same with the all-Fireman concerts he would mention. Without trying to sound too dramatic, I lost all hope when he did the small(er) venue gigs in 2007 and then later in 2010 and still played the same ol' same ol' with just a few stale covers thrown in. That would have been the chance.
Come on, you are going to soundcheck 'Sun Is Shining' in full, perfect, flawless form, and then not even once performing it in public? At least 'Bluebird' got an outing once or twice, lol.
Yes absolutly "Sun is shining down" was superb during Vienna Soundcheck last year. You're absolutly right with the setlist since 2007!!! One major critical point of this old setlist scheme are the tributes (Foxy Lady, Here Today, Something) + several too often performed songs like let me roll it, all my loving, long and winding road, blackbird, eleanor rigby, i've got a a feeling...
The Setlist during US Tour 2005 was better in this sense.
certainly every paul concert (this old setlist scheme included) is an highlight; particularly in the front rows. But the knowlege that there could be a least 3 or more alternative setlists that could be magnificent and successfully too, is a shame!
Drop out of songs like jet, got to get u into my life, or mrs. vandebilt and the addition of songs like HiHiHi, Another Dayor 1985 were good decisions. But we need more changes...Hope dies last.
