Some want new "banter" some want a "FEW" more recent songs. OH...and I am an original fan. Fan since 1964.

And of course we all keep going back again & again & we all enjoy ourselves. But when you stop & think about the vast number of songs this talented man has written...I feel bad that he has sold himself short & has not shared a few more of them to be played live in front of us.

and of course he will do what he wants....like he listens to us or even reads this.

He opened with "Magical Mystery Tour" AGAIN. :

(as I'd shared in the Chile thread):

        Why not open like this:

        -I Saw Her Standing There
        -Save Us
        -Alligator

It would make a huge difference.

who did watched the documentation making of new "something new"?
I watched it yesterday. In relation t0 this thread there is one very interessting part in the second half of this docu. I mean it was Abe, who said something like that. We are motivated to performe NEW live. We did rehearsals for the whole new album and want tour with many of them.
Tour reality reveals something else... Maybe there is still a bit of hope.
          :

I recall that. It was definitely Abe -- and it got me quite enthusiastic.

audi:I recall that. It was definitely Abe -- and it got me quite enthusiastic.

              absolutly!
the question is whether there are surprises for the next tour leg and we get at less 2 further new songs or not. That would be something. A real novelty to the setlist logic of the last ten years

                fingers crossed!

I hate to say it, but Abe's comment about performing NEW in its entirety might be our latest "minty fresh" letdown.

All PR stuff. I stopped holding my breath on his enthusiastic claims about new material a long time ago. Same with the all-Fireman concerts he would mention. Without trying to sound too dramatic, I lost all hope when he did the small(er) venue gigs in 2007 and then later in 2010 and still played the same ol' same ol' with just a few stale covers thrown in. That would have been the chance.

Come on, you are going to soundcheck 'Sun Is Shining' in full, perfect, flawless form, and then not even once performing it in public? At least 'Bluebird' got an outing once or twice, lol.

Yes absolutly "Sun is shining down" was superb during Vienna Soundcheck last year. You're absolutly right with the setlist since 2007!!! One major critical point of this old setlist scheme are the tributes (Foxy Lady, Here Today, Something) + several too often performed songs like let me roll it, all my loving, long and winding road, blackbird, eleanor rigby, i've got a a feeling...
The Setlist during US Tour 2005 was better in this sense.
certainly every paul concert (this old setlist scheme included) is an highlight; particularly in the front rows. But the knowlege that there could be a least 3 or more alternative setlists that could be magnificent and successfully too, is a shame!
Drop out of songs like jet, got to get u into my life, or mrs. vandebilt and the addition of songs like HiHiHi, Another Dayor 1985 were good decisions. But we need more changes...Hope dies last.

He returned to opening with "Magical Mystery Tour" last night in Chile. No "Eight Days A Week".

YvonnesTheOne:He returned to opening with "Magical Mystery Tour" last night in Chile. No "Eight Days A Week".

I bet today it's "Eight Days A Week" again.

                              nobodytoldme:

Could be Paul's way of offering something unique to those that attend the soundcheck.

The only hope I have left is if Paul changes the setlist after each "leg." Meaning that after the South American tour, he changes up the setlist a bit when he goes back to Japan. I just can't believe he won't (yet) play Early Days, or anything else. I think he might do a minor setlist change when he heads back to Japan and keeping that setlist for the remainder of the tour. I mean come on, he was literally just there in November! He can't possibly play the same setlist again! I guess we'll have to see what happens. I wish would Paul would play Early Days instead of Here Today, and on the mini stage riser screen where the "waterfall" is, there are images of him and John during their early days. And after Early Days he should play Calico Skies with the band and then Here, There, and Everywhere with the band or vice versa the order. Possibly Here, There, and Everywhere, Calico Skies, Early Days in that order. Kind of think of the 2002 segment of Here, There. and Everywhere where the whole band is acoustic playing these three songs. I bet Early Days, Calico Skies, Here, There, and Everywhere would be a cool trio with the band acoustically.

Interesting comments...I have seen him 8 times and still get a charge seeing him...one of the things I look at when he is on tour is the location of the concert...I look at the city where he is; see if I've been there; what's the arena/stadium etc...

So I have been to places like Vegas...Dallas...Safeco Field because of that

This time around I want to go to Candlestick as I haven't been to San Fran in a long long time and think it would be cool to see him at Candlestick as Beatles last played...

I would like him to drop 5 or so songs and do some other stuff, but it is what it is

I guess when Paul works for you, then you can tell him what to play. :

kelly campbell:This is where I exit the conversation...it always ends up the same with both view points well represented yet it all comes down to he can play what ever he wants and he does...

                                      Yup.

MACCATTACK:Dont' hate me, I love the man, but the setlist is a bit of a snoozer. I dont know why he has these rules it seems where he wont change things up a bit. Maybe I'm in the minority but I dont like the NEW album with the exception of a couple of songs. Definitely his weakest output IMHO since Off the Ground. But I understand he needs to promote it. Here's what I'd like to see:

Eight Days a Week -Doesnt sound right without John. I Saw Her Standing There would be a perfect opener
Save Us -Awful, but it aint going anywhere.
All My Loving -Beaten to death, but acceptable
Listen to What the Man Said -ZZZZZZZ- replace with Silly Love Songs
Let Me Roll It/Foxy Lady -Needs to go bye bye. How about the forgotten Cant Buy Me Love?!?!?
Paperback Writer -Adios. Bring back Jet
My Valentine -ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ- Anything but thos

Maybe I'm Amazed -He's had trouble with this since 89. How about Hold Me Tight??
I've Just Seen a Face -Ok, but I'd prefer Hop of Deliverance
                                        We Can Work It Out-Ok
                                        Another Day -OK
And I Love Her -Meh. How about Mother Natures son or Rocky Racoon
                                        Blackbird -Keep
Here Today -Adios! NO MORE TRIBUTES! Put It There would be great!
                                        New -Keep
Queenie Eye -Not my fave, but it aint going anywhere
Lady Madonna -C ya. You Never Give ME Your $$ would be better
All Together Now -Sayonara- Bring back Getting Better
                                        Lovely Rita --Fair at best
                                        Everybody Out There -Keep
Eleanor Rigby -Time to dump it. Ever Present Past shoud take its spot!
One After 909 -Nope. Two of US would be better
Something -Sorry Georgie, but its gotta go. Replace with Follow Me
                                        Obladi Oblada -OK
                                        Band on the Run -OK
                                        Back in the U.S.S.R. -OK

Helter Skelter -Doesnt sound good live. Bring back Pepper
                                        Golden/Carry/The End-Cool
What do you think. It would still be a VERY hit friendly show! Oh yeah, replace Mr Kite with Penny Lane.

Question for everyone. Why should McCartney change or care to change setlist?. Look at it from his perspective. The crowd eats up every Beatle song, he sells out concerts with expensive tickets and he is critically acclaimed in almost every concert review I have read. IMO - it is obvious he does not really care about much of his after Beatles career with few exceptions in concert. He appears to be a performer who does not get bored doing about 75% of the same songs and repeating the same old stories. Until he stops playing live, it will be a Beatle heavy show and it is basically pointless discussing it any more. Finally, I said in earlier post in this thread that I will not go to see him live anymore. It is just not worth the time/money to see a similiar concert with a aging McCartney voice.

Breaks my heart to admit it, but I've decided to pass on the Nashville show.

Still hoping for a gig where Paul's "Flaming Pie crowd" gets its long-overdue show.

yankeefan7...we continue to discuss it because this is a discussion board. Simple as that. Of course he won't change nor does he read this nonsense of ours. And people keep complaining about the complainers as usual too. What's new? I guess all of this is like buying a lotto ticket. What are your chances of winning? But you still buy that ticket & you buy a little dream. You imagine what you would do with "that kind of money". Same thing with the setlist games...just daydreaming what if he played...what does it harm? I really don't see why people get upset over it. <shrugs>

Audi...sorry to hear that. One day we'll get a Flaming Pie tour or a Fireman show...or that winning power ball.
