My wife and I are going to Motor Vehicle on Friday to get our "Real ID " driving license which will be required to fly domestically and enter some federal buildings. Everyone has until May 2023 to get this done in the US.  You have to supply a whole bunch of things to prove you identity like passport, Social Security card, drivers license and certain type of bill that has you name and address.  I believe if you don't get one, you would need to have passport with you to fly domestically. Crazy world we live in now -lol

I got mine in March 2020 before the poop hit the fan. I was in & out relatively quickly. They were giving me a hard time because my birth certificate (maiden name) was different and I didn't have my first marriage license! Had divorce papers + 2nd marriage where I got divorced and changed back to my 1st husband's name so me and the kids had the same last name. I had my SS card, 2 utility bills, driver's license, and she's still giving me crap. I whipped out my passport, slapped it down on the desk and sai "Will this do?" YES!  TA DA! So bring every dang thing you can think of!

I also got mine before all the COVID crud was known.

I had recently gotten a Passport - so I had that with me and additional paperwork was easy to gather up since I used it for the passport . It was a slow process for me - but it came at the same time that I had to renew my license stuff. There were people waiting hours, mostly due to lack of paperwork or paperwork that needed approval or some yes or no answer. As I say this - I did have to wait long because every one was getting these notices. When I did get to the counter it only took the time for the typing and entry. I had the paperwork, but just had to use my passport. You don't want to have to go back home and then return or have to go back another day. Hopefully it is as smooth as it can be for this type of process for you.

I had everythig you could think of thanks to my wife for knowing where the heck everything was and the first thing I showed them was my passport . They did not ask to see anything else once they looked at passport -lol.

😂 It figures! That's like last Oct. I made an appointment for my mom and went with her. Brought everything but the kitchen sink, then I found out she ALREADY had a REAL ID license! 🙄

I felt a bit like Pinocchio  when I became real. (I also didn't really know that I wasn't real until it came time to get my I.D.)
