I love this story. I used to pass this little biker bar  (on Central Avenue) on my way home from work for a bunch of years. Years ago they tried to force the owners to sell this bar and take the property and use it to build new apartments.  The owners fought and the city and the coprporation building  apartments tried to make their life hell by making parking harder for people wanting to go into the bar. I walked into the bar years ago and gave bartender a $20 bill and told him to buy anybody a drink on me and it was my way of supporting them in their fight.

Anyway it appears Mick walked into the bar and got a beer and nobody recognized him, he tweeted picture of himself outside the bar. Personally, I am shocked he found this place as it is really tiny and a few miles awy from where he probably is staying.  It is in a part of town that is kind of the "grunge" area of Charlotte with all different kinds of places and restaurants.

The Rolling Stone concert is tonight at the Bank Of America stadium where the Carolina Panthers play football.

I've seen a few clips of the 1st show they did without Charlie. Very nice tributes at the beginning & also at the end of the show. RIP Charlie.

Yankeefan, I saw that and immediately thought of you! Great story!

There might be somebody I'm less interested in, but I can't think of whom that might be.  On the plus side....your wording is almost like the beginning of a joke....."Mick walked into a bar and got a beer and......laugh

I actually jogged with Jagger by chance on the beach in the Hampton's many years ago (late 70's).  It's a long story and I believe I posted it some time ago in response to one of BJ's post.  I did not mean for it to sound like beginning of a joke but you are right, sounds like the punchline should be coming soon -lol.

Could Charlie have told him about it?  And Mick decided to hoist one in memory there?  Interesting.

If it was a Biker Bar I'm not too surprised nobody noticed him. This may be a stereotype, but bikers generally don't look at or are fans of skinny dudes that shake their arses and prance about stages!!!  Just sayin.....laugh

If I had to make a bet, I would say some "roadie" had been there and told him about the place. Now if Jagger was in some jazz club in Charlotte, then maybe Charlie told him about it -lol.

Yes!  From what I have read, Charlie had too much class to choose a biker bar for a drink!  It would have been a jazz club and he would have been dressed in suit and tie.  I read that one tiime Jagger and Richards were tying one on and Mick asked..."Where's my drummer?"  Charlie was told of this. After dressing in proper attire he went into the room where Jagger and Kieth were.  He slugged Jagger and told him..."Don't ever call me 'your drummer.'"

                          Cool stories.

I am not a big fan of The Rolling Stones, but it is hard to think of them without Charlie.

A biker bar in Charlotte NC which is  part of the of US known for southern accents. If you are going to be stereotypical,  most bikers are by nature not skinny people. So in walks this skinny guy who orders a beer with a British accent and a voice that is well known even if you are not a huge rock and roll fan.  Just sayin -lol

I'd say he "prances" around pretty good! And maybe he was checking out the bikers for something like Altamont.

Rather than start another Stones thread, I just wanted to post a part of an interview with Mick.

Mick being Mick, I imagine the name of the bar is what got his attention!   Looks like he wanted the sign to show up in his photo.
