Wings songs that Wings did not release
-
I know there are several of these out there; I mean songs that Wings recorded which did see official release, but not until after Wings was done. There's a few on Denny Laine's Japanese Tears, a few more on Linda's Wide Prairie, and then several saved for Paul's own later B-sides. Here's the list I've compiled so far, with the songs grouped under more-or-less the year they were recorded (I'm not always certain of their placement): 1971 Bip Bop/Hey Diddle 1972 Mama's Little Girl 1973 I Would Only Smile Wide Prairie I Got Up Oriental Nightfish 1974 I'll Give You a Ring Send Me the Heart 1975 New Orleans My Carnival Lunch Box/Odd Sox 1978 Same Time Next Year 1979 Weep for Love Is this list complete? If not, can anyone point me to those I've missed?

The song from the In Laws movie soundtrack...A Love For You

To be clear, when you say "not released" you mean not released on a Wings album? Because many of these were released as singles and b-sides or a soundtrack album. And if that's what you want, then there are more like "Live and Let Die" which was only ever released on compilations - never on a real album except the Live and Let Die film soundtrack (which is great btw as it also includes a jazzy score by Sir George Martin).

Not quite: I know of all the songs (I think) that Wings released on singles or soundtracks during their tenure as a band; what I'm interested in are songs that they recorded but that didn't see the light of day until after Wings fell apart. In my first post, I wrote:

Sorry if that wasn't sufficiently clear!

In that case, you should take Lunch Box/Odd Sox off. It was released as a b-side to Coming Up, which was a solo McCartney song yes, but the b-side, which was both the live Coming Up and Lunch Box, was credited to Wings and released while the band was still sorta together. They really slowly dissolved more than they just broke up.

Oh, cool! That I didn't know, thank you. Was this live Coming Up single Wings' only official post-Back to the Egg release of new music?

The 'Coming Up - Live From Glasgow' example is a gray area...because it was only here in the States that the live version was the single's A-Side. The album and the subsequent originally intended A-Side are from a project that is strictly Paul McCartney (sans wings)...Thus in my eyes, the only difference between that and subsequent Post Wings 'wings releases' is the fact that nobody realized Wings was no longer. The nail in the coffin (i.e Japanese drug bust) had occurred only months before this release and that incident is frequently noted as the reason Paul decided to ditch Wings (although there are some documented sessions which included Wings members - including Denny Laine credited as a contributor to both Tug of War and Pipes of Peace. As an aside, I forgot to give the year to my prior suggestion or addition to your list - A Love For You (I believe) dates back to 1971

another that he could do now! Here is a diff version of my carnival...

That' s quite an impressive list Cyllthain. I also really like those song titles. I remember the soundtrack for the "Live and Let Die" movie. I have it on cassette tape and am definitely going to see if I can get it on CD. I was just watching Live and Let Die the other night. Love the song in the opening credits.

I love in the background Linda and Paul calling out "I wanna hear Band On the Run!" and "I wanna hear Jet!"

Incidentally, I recently bought Denny Laine's In Flight, apparently a retitled, reordered version of Japanese Tears. It has I Would Only Smile, Weep for Love, and Send Me The Heart (presumably the Wings versions). What is the deal with this album? It seems to get rereleased every few years by a different label with a different title with different cover art. Not sure about the rest of the album, but the three Wings tracks don't seem to be owned by Paul. Odd!
