My Blackberry is Banned
-
I have veiwed the forum before on my blackberry but now I get the dredded "You have been banned from this forum..." page. which stinks cause sometimes I'm bored in meetings and like to surf the web and inevitable this place on my bberry. any way to allow it access? Can one of the mods tell me if there is some type of network limitations to accessing this forum? thanks and salutations.

It's a new one on us. Are you visiting the forum through the main site link or using a direct url? Try coming in on the direct url: http://maccaboard.paulmccartney.com/phpBB2/index.php or the basic link: http://maccaboard.paulmccartney.com Try clearing your phone web history if it has such a feature in case it's linking to a cached page with that message. We certainly don't set out to block any user on grounds of their phone choice Give us some more info before we forward this onwards to our specilist team. We'd love to hear of other phone users having issues, is this unique to kapoo - our thread starter - or do other users have the same issues? Martin

Thanks for the reply Martin. In the past I had found the page by googling ?kapoo? and a thread subject I knew existed, and then I?d click on what came up. However, I just tried both of the direct links you provided and both came up ?Banned? unreal! Something is up with my Blackberry. It is a company issued phone, which does mean that there is probably some level of security on my end.. my companies network security etc. or perhaps a high level of traffic or something. Let me know if you find anything out. Otherwise I?ll be seeing you from my laptop

Still banned. My Blackberry is taking the hint wonder what the deal is??
-
Sounds like your company has blocked you! Have you tried to surf other sites like georgeharrison.com? Maybe it's just a Paul conspiracy!

Nothing against you Kapoo, but if I had employees surfing the internet especially during this economy, I think I'd be a little ticked off at them for wasting time. Also I am just jealous that I can't do it at work.

No kidding Nancy, but if it was my company blocking it I wouldn?t be able to view the site at all. That?s why I think it has to be on the PM.com side. Somehow have tagged my blackberry banned. Not like I try to visit this site from my blackberry often. And not like I?m sitting in important meetings surfing the web, like I think I made it seem before.. but boring meetings yes or more just randomly if the thought occurs. Just weird to me that I can?t, would be interested to know what the trigger is that causing it to be banned. Perhaps a banned member who used to visit this site via blackberry, and I?m somehow catching his/her shaft, per se? just spit balling here.

I looked a bit further into this issue particularly after the recent Blackberry e-mail outage and it appears one of the major reasons companies love the Blackberry service is the absolute control they can wield over their company network of Blackberry mobile phones. They certainly can set up all kind of usage filters to the internet browsing of company phones, and read all company related e-mail sent through staff members devices. Time and again the discussion boards offer only one direct simple solution: Carry your Blackberry for work purposes alone and use a second device for personal calls, texts, e-mails and internet browsing. The major outage was caused because their system requires all traffic through their devices passes through the one central server system hosted here in the UK - no matter what the content or geographic nature of the call - desk to desk in the USA? Still through the UK central server. It is this "our system alone" that enables them to offer such a high degree of encryption to have international governments protesting they cannot intercept or hack content sent via Blackberry - but the "our system alone" philosophy also enables them to provide company phone network administrators such a high degree of access and control over phones they provide their staff. Basically, if you have a Blackberry provided by your employer they have as much access and control over your phone content and it's internet browsing capacity as if you were sat at a company PC within one of their offices. At least you will be able to surf the forum whenever you want without "big brother" looking over your shoulder.
