Couldn't care less about the Mark Ronson bit, but delighted to hear of more news regarding a new release. I have a great feeling he's going to deliver another number 1 album.
and PLEASE let it be on the pop/rock charts. NO SURPRISES as far as that goes.
Exactly. I just think the time thats lapsed since his last 'proper' record that he has something special in the pipeline. Well creatively, based on his last 5 or 6 albums, he has written some of his very best stuff.
But how could you go wrong with Dave Grohl (the guy who has played with both Paul and Mick in the past 12 months.....)? But didn't we read that it was all finished but that Paul didn't like some of the vocals...or some such thing? So what is there to "produce"?
Unless, of course, he's starting over from scratch... I wouldn't be surprised, nor would I blame him - he's got to get it 'right' (whatever that means). Didn't I get the idea somewhere that he wasn't satisfied with the 'rock' tracks he'd done, presumably with Dave Grohl?
-
Sorry, meant to say how could you go wrong with Dave Grohl who has performed with both Paul and Mick over the past 12 months?
-
I must have missed something, when did he record "rock" tracks with Dave Grohl? Last full sessions I'd read about were those with Geoff Emerick in 2009 that gave us the "I want to go home" (?) track, not his best one...but still passsable.

Yes, we'd much rather think Grohl "performed" with them rather than "played" with them. Hmmm. Ew. I think Paul will give this one his very best effort!!! Who knows, it could be his last hurrah. I think Dylan is doing one more album, "Tempest," and then that's it. (Name of Shakespeare's final play sort of hints at it.) I understand Dylan pays some sort of tribute to John on the album. Paul doesn't have the luxury of time to just do a knockoff and wait until next time. The next time has come!! IMO

We also have to be intrigued as to what he's doing with his hose...... are Macca and Youth producing something for Halo or is there another Fireman album in the pipeline with those Bloody Beetroots? If there's a corking Paul album, an out-there EA stylee Fireman album and some more remasters coming in the next 12 months I think I'll flood......

Metaphor Of The Day!

If he's done 20 songs with Geoff as demos, rock tracks with Grohl, and he's been producing an album with Ronson plus theres all the talk of the Fireman again and that video game, I wonder if its safe in assuming: The Grohl collaboration might be separate (and may also be only a few tracks)? The 20 Geoff tracks he's reworking with Ronson (who has the knack for completely adding a twist to a song) and possibly includes that folky tune called Hosanna? The Fireman album might be a video game soundtrack? Also something worth noting, I was sent a link to an article a while back from Paul's former 'manager' who's now in doldrums and he was very supportive and loyal of Paul despite this and he mentioned that he's been tweaking Celebration (appears on one of his classical albums and he does it in sound checks now and again) for years.
-
I've read that about Celebration too. I'm hopeful of a new Fireman album, along with a rock/pop album (possible collaborations with Grohl, but who knows). I'd rather have dates tho, When the hell are we going to get it!!

But wouldn't you want some new music to be played on those dates?
Sorry man, I meant dates in the sense of a release date not for touring. I would be glad if he didn't tour again this year if we got new music in the next few months.

And this is why the term "ambiguous" exists. And I totally agree with ya'!

"...as to what he's doing with his hose" = a fireman (in this case, Paul) uses a water-hose to extinguish fires. "...another Fireman album in the pipeline" = "pipeline" refers to future projects that are in the preliminary phase. Hope that helps.

Mark Ronson seems like a good person to produce him. Hopefully Macca and Ronson's collaboration it'll be finished by the time Duran Duran are ready to get back in the studio with him next year. From what they said when talking about working with him on the All You Need is Now album, and they praised him to the high heavens, is that he's very knowledgeable about music and has a firm hand without being overly bossy, which sounds like something that's good for a producer of McCartney as well. He just sounds like a really good producer to work with, with a positive attitude who wants to get the best out of the songwriters/bands rather than making them have one particular "Ronson sound".

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b01l2y27/Lauren_Laverne_25_07_2012/?t=2h6m59s Interesting radio interview there Paul mentions that he very nearly did Coming Up at the Jubilee Perhaps more interesting Paul also says he's a stockpile of songs thats too big, and he has about 20 he wants to record, and he's going to take some time off to record them after South American shows and the Olympics

I thought the "hose" was a euphemism for his um..you know what! Got the pipeline reference. Thanks to the other poster for explaining who the "Blooody Beetroots" are!

I would be really excited to have Ronson producing the next Paul album. Could not think of a better producer for him, other than himself. Or possibly Kahne again. or the Dust Brothers! or Youth. but Ronson's probably topping my 'just now made up in 2 seconds' list! that would be sweet.
-
Whatever the album style is it has to be top notch, and ever-so-slightly out there. No more nice little rock and pop albums, life's too short. Time for Paul (and Youth) to go CRAZZZYYYY and give us a work that's a couple of steps up (and half a dozen steps to the left) from the brilliant EA!
