this gem was in the charts http//
One of his most supreme melodies and one of my favorites of all the singles. -
It's good, but it lacks something. "No More Lonely Nights" a few years before was better.
-
Not seen this clip b4, always loved the song, those were the days!
-
Is something screwy with youtube right now? I can't get $hit to load right now!

Finally got it to load! Man, that song came out the same year my twins were born! And Paulie was only 45!!
-
A great song, love the version on the second 12" single, I think this was the last time Macca graced the UK top 10.
-
The melody is genius. Better melody than NMLN
-
I love once upon a long ago. a great single with an even better b side. Also i just saw a poster on my wall which reminded me that its also 22 years since Paul and Linda led a march through my local town to try and stop the hospital being closed. i couldn't get the day off school!!!
-
You're right, the b-side "Back On My Feet" is brilliant and better than the a-side.

Hard to fathom it's nearly 25 years since Paul had a top ten hit here in the UK, bit of a scandal really. I think his choices of singles over the last 25 years have been a little baffling at times, but i think most of his fans gave up buying singles which is a shame. It surprises me his lack of top ten hits over this period as lots of the single releases had tracks unavailable on albums, an incentive to get the single releases i would have thought? :

bigger crime when you consider how little units you have to shift to get in the top 10 of the UK chart in the last 20 years.. of course there have been a few dubious choices of singles by paul ,but in the main they have been strong songs.... and paul has always been singles artist for me...his greatest strength NO DOUBT a real shame that the man who lived to get people singing along lost his ability to do it.

Its the beast of the pop world Lazy.. and the nature of an artist. The fact that Paul has been as successful as he has for so long is remarkable. usually artists change and the pop culture changes and they stop meshing, thats normal. Paul's experienced that a bit at times throughout his career, but not as much as most artists do. Paul's melodies are still loved. timeless. its just a whole different scene these days, and he's an old man. interesting though how he always has his nitch. quality always has its place.

I think his ability is there still, but it seems most have lost interest in what he does right across the board. I think even if he released his best ever album and critics thought it was the best music ever made most of the public would say "who cares", such a pity.

That was my thought during the Off The Ground period, but the American success of Flaming Pie changed all that. I began to think that way again during the Driving Rain release, but Memory Almost Full convinced me otherwise again.

I imagine it would have to be.
