Paul's Band mates forming their own bands-WHY?
-
.... hum?.... I just read an article yesterday about Brian and his new band the Bayonets ( will get the link ) http://www.examiner.com/article/interview-mccartney-guitarist-brian-ray-takes-new-turn-with-the-bayonets Rusty, has formed a new band called -Afternoon- Abe's done side projects .. been on tour w/other artists.. cool why are Macca's band mates forming their own bands when they'rein a band/group as a whole with Paul McCartney? are they getting tired/bored touring with Paul.?.... does anyone one feel some loyalty is lost here? or do they feel they are not part of the group with no creative process or input? OR -they figure Paul is getting on lets form our own band.. so we don't loose the fan base~ I can understand them doing side projects but, to form their own bands & promoting them and it's music.. hard hitting promotion kinda sends a red flag to me... I dunno? seems like WIX is the most loyal of all....... The Beatles didn't form inner bands when they were together and I'm not sure bout Wings cos there was such a member turn over~ Paul doesn't dump them ( the band ) and add new members thoughts~
-
They always had their own local bands and side projects. So there's nothing to worry about!
-
Paul and his band don't work like The Beatles did. Rusty, Brian and Abe are all growing musicians (and Wix for that matter although he does see mto have slowed down on side projects.) They all write their own music and do their own thing, it's normal. They're really just session men...maybe the luckiest EVER. Theyve been touring with Paul for over ten years...can anyone think of another solo act that has maintained band members for that long? Elton John has Davey Johnstone, and Billy Joel has Mark Rivera but....a whole BAND?! I think it is pretty impressive that it has lasted this long and it shows that Paul thoroughly enjoys working with them, and well...they're really good!!!

... side projects are one thing but forming bands is another .. me thinks anyways ~ seems a bit different now Kimsey ~ ops: so I just posed the question .. and when do we really hear from the band anyways on a personal one on one level .. why they are promoting something or when it comes to their music.. ops:

Well tell me this...then why aren't ANY of these shows billed as AT LEAST "Paul McCartney and his band" None of the guys are mentioned on posters in text or by visual aid. You have to read the promo script on the website and even then, it just lists their name, instruments and duration with Paul. It's business.

Paul normally introduces the band .. he doesn't say these are my part time session musicians~ Paul is the main performer as any other artist who are known as one name... but their band is their band~ ie: Billy Joel & Bruce Springsteen example
-
Abe drums for Clapton periodically, and I've seen videos of Rusty and his own band on the internet for years now. Brian has been around forever.
-
I wish he would thank his "fantastic band." When he says that right at the end of the gig, he barely murmurs their names. It's sad, they deserve better.

I know all that Audi..... that's not my point... you guys re-read the initial thread... me thinks they are bored ( same set lists no input ) and want to be involved in the musical creative process as musicians...

I haven't heard Paul say their names since Citi Field...and I've never heard them speak onstage...except when Rusty screwed up "And I Love Her" in St. Louis and Paul made him re-play it. Billy Joel has half a new band every tour...and it's Bruce Springsteen & The E-Street Band. Big difference. They've been with him since the 70's. If it were still Paul McCartney & Wings it would be a little different. But, even if they would've carried on beyond the crumbled Japan tour, it certainly would've stopped at Linda's death.

so I'm getting so far, Paul, should allow his band mates some input .. besides > House of Wax ... doing side projects rock and I have bought their albums.. but forming a band makes me kinda go huh? what is Paul filler now?
-
... Maybe Paul should add David Grohl, to the band line up and let whom ever wants to: be rockin with their band on the road do so~ so they can promote their prospective bands etc.... David Grohl is a great performer onstage and he looks happy to be jamin out with Paul .. this was noticed at the 12-12-12 gig & SNL... he sure didn't look bored on auto- pilot to me,., he was happy to perform with Paul~ to be more precise David Grohl played his guts out~ w/ Paul... I must say tho... Abe, really kicks ass on drums!!!~

It has nothing to do with loyalty to Paul. It has everything with them being musicians with decades long careers and great talent and the need to express themselves. it is not subtracting from Paul, it is adding to Rusty and Brian as individuals. It's wrong to think their creativity is gonna be stifled, if anything working with Paul has to stimulate their juices like crazy. It has gotta come out in song form! I don't think it's a weakness, or see the need to ask why. That's what musicians DO. Personally if Paul hooked up with Grohl that would be the end of my interest and the beginning of me barfing. I find Grohl odious on many levels. Also it's "Rusty Anderson Afternoon" not just "afternoon"

David Grohl is an excellent musician Jena.. & plays his heart out... I personally never have seen a group.. that I can recall in recent memory who's members are forming sub groups of their own .. unless they were unhappy or about to beak up~ if Paul doesn't mind why not give them free rein... like he did with Wings or his solo career~

You're seeing free rein. Just because you haven't seen it before so what? The people you are discussing are strongly original and maybe you need a paradigm shift also btw let me tell you Grohl is NOT an excellent musician. He gets up there and thrashes around but musically he isn't even on an intermediate level.
