Ridiculous concert practices
-
I tried to get tickets through Paul's presale, through a radio presale, and the regular sales date. Come to find out, all the good seats do not fall in the $275/seat price -- the highest level, and high enough, thank you -- but they are putting packages together, and 1, that would be ONE, ticket costs $2,000. Way to cater to the wealthy. This is very upsetting.
-
most who buy packages aren't wealthy.. we scrimp save- if not out right .. put it on our cards~
-
I had been saving for quite a while when rumors started last year about a possible tour. I've always had the cheaper seats in the past and wanted to experience at least one show closer.
-
Sure you can save for some websites..but in at least one of the sites you have to have just the right credit card..which is catering to the ppl who have money!
-
Just be glad it is not the Stones, have you looked at their prices? and for such a lousy band live. I like the stones studio work but live they suck. and yes all the big named concerts are way over the top any more.

I have seen the Stones. They are not lousy, they put on an exciting show just like Paul. It may not be your cup of tea, but if you step back, they are doing exactly what Paul is doing. Charging as high as possible and fans are willing to pay. So yes, I do agree with your last statement about big name concerts being way over the top.

Yes, Stones put on a great show.... but their time onstage is about one hour shorter in duration than Paul's, and over twice the price.

Wrong. The Stones do not put on a 1.5 hour show. It is much longer. Tom Petty put on a show that was over two hours and cost $65. It was great!
-
Nevermind the fact that the Stones offered over 1000 $85 (yes, $85!!) tickets to every show on their upcoming tour: I snagged pairs for both Toronto and Philly (bookending my Brooklyn Macca shows). That $85 actually included service charges, if you can believe it. So while that is admittedly a small percentage of the ticket pool, I'm thrilled that the fact some have (willingly) paid big $$ allows the band to throw tickets out there for a fraction of the cost. I think Springsteen is about the only *big* name out there who doesn't routinely charge the big $$$ for shows - Paul's just charging "the going rate" as it were - *all* concerts are way expensive these days, unfortunately.

NJ - 22 songs Show start : 8:50pm Show finish : 11:05pm The set is usually 22-25 songs, no more, - But I agree, they put on a great show. I see them each time they come to Australia. Different kettle of fish to Paul, but like Paul, they are bonafide legends.

Yeah, they are both great. And the comparisons are tiresome. NOT liking the Stones is not keeping them from being one of the hottest concert tickets out there. And frankly, I would be thrilled if McCartney did a two hour show. That's long enough for me.

Perhaps there's some degree of variation with Stones shows, but my last couple Stones shows on the Bigger Bang tour were both about 1 hr 50 minutes each.... While my last Paul shows were about 2 hrs 45 minutes each....

Almost three hours is just too long, IMO. I know I will get flamed, but I can do without a lot of the filler tunes, or even songs I have heard live many times. But it is a trivial thing to complain about in the end.

Well, a nearly three hour show is a 'problem' (lol!) you don't have to worry about, because as you've stated over and over (and over and over) in multiple threads, you're not going.

Yeah, nor will I have the problem of hundreds of dollars leaving my pocket! Besides, I've seen the show. It's great. Don't need to do it again. Unless, of course, he does a show in New Mexico!

What are you gonna do with those extra hundred dollars? I'd love to hear some better ideas. Maybe I'll skip Paul too.

Really? Come on out to New Mexico. I'll buy you a green chile cheeseburger!
