Paul, Come To Australia
-
Hey Cassandra, I feel for ya'll down under. We (meaning Memphis) finally have our return gig after almost 20 years. Am thrilled beyond belief that Paul is playing the birthplace or Rock & Roll. Last time he was here was the same year ya'll saw him down under (1993). I've got a feeling that ya'll will be seeing Macca in October/November! I mean how many times can he play the same tired old places again.

Glad you got your return show there Fletch! Any info in particular you're basing the "Oct / Nov" thing on or just guessing? Kinda hoping that isn't spot on true as we plan to travel around that time. I just bet we'd book and then shows would be announced for when we're away!

Just seen Rockshow, AWESOME!!! I would like to express a disappointment however. SHAME ADELAIDE SHAME. I estimate there were only approximately 40 people in the theatre!!!!! Although that might have had something to do with the very poor promotion for the show. Unless you saw the advertising on this site, it has not been promoted at all. I don't know who would be responsible for that but it is indicative of why Paul does not tour here. ops: Sorry had to have a vent. Loved the show, can't wait for the DVD. Cheers Chrissie

Hey I saw it in Melbourne last night and I counted 13!!! Plenty of room to bop, sing along, feet up on the seat...and bother nobody. But bear in mind it was showing all over the place here. I wore my blue satin 1976 Wings USA tour jacket...

Also, McCartney has not played there since 1993. People lose interest.

Cinema screenings for sound city were patronised only by a few too. In the digital age i reckon most people couldn't be shagged schlepping to a cinema for what is essentially docos without wide appeal. Only concert for george drew big crowds here for a one nighter. Living in the material world, again low patronage. The general public don't care about a paul 1976 concert film, and thats fair enough.

As uncomfortable as it is thats the truth of it

Sone lousy crowd numbers in the us too. Another truth is the film has limited appeal.

Proud to say i provided memories and info re: that tour, the doco and Rockshow. Largely filmed by Melbourne's own channel 7 doyen, Gordon Bennett. This led to a one hour radio special with interviews with people thete at the time for Wings Over Australia. Gordon shot 10km of film, most of which went into the doco, Wings Over The World.

Live Nation teasing a major announcement this weekend.
-
Guess it depended where you saw the film as the screening I was at was 3/4 full it was on everywhere. I remember the george film was quite well attended to here. Depends what cinema as some are more reared towards special events , live plays concerts etc

Agreed. The Yellow Submarine screenings recently weren't playing to packed theaters either. These sorts of films attract a very specialized audience only.
