Steve Martin and Edie Brickell in Band
-
Read in the latest "Entertainment Weekly" Steve Martin and Edie Brickell (she was lead singer in The New Bohemians, is married to Paul Simon) have formed a bluegrass-type band and will tour. Edie has written the lyrics and Steve the melodies for some songs. He's very talented musically on the banjo. She has some talent, too. In the article Martin pointed out that bluegrass and folk influences are in style now in alternative indie rock. In bands such as Mumford and Sons, for example.

Just in case you were not aware, Paul sings a song on Martin's last bluegrass album. The song is called "Best Love" and is pretty good.

Seeing them here in NYC at the end of June - been looking forward to it for ages.

yes, that song's pretty good and I've heard others from Martin on t.v. which were real good, thinking especially of one he performed on a big "American Idol" finale show one year. It was kind of awesome. I've liked some of Edie Brickell's. I remember an exchange between audi and me about Edie performing with one of Paul Simon's sons (not hers, from his first marriage to Peggy Simon) Harper Simon, who seems to be very talented from the one song I've heard from him online. I should seek out more from Harper to find out if the rest of his songs are that good. audi and I joked about finding some obscure stuff musically or knowing about some. I was surprised he knew about Edie and Harper's musical collaboration (LOL), and that they were in a band together, I guess it was kind of short-lived
