Broken foot on "Out There" tour
-
Well, as many of us around here, The Beatles is a HUGE passion of mine. Only passion I've had since I was 12 (I'm currently 28 ). And specially: Sir Paul. He has been to Brazil many times, but I've never been able to go to one of his concerts, always for economical problems But then... he comes to my city. First time EVER... I went crazy, missed work just to buy the ticket. Anxiety grows each day before the sale starts, but I managed to buy it! I spent the next month or so crying everytime I thought about going to his concert. On the day of the show, I could barely hold myself. Nobody could go with me, so I went all by myself, in company of Sir Paul and his amazing music. When the timing of the concert was getting closer, I managed to get very close to the bars. The heat was almost UNBEARABLE. The crowd was going mad. But I stayed there. Waited on him. The show got about 30-40 min late, but it didn't matter... I just wanted to see him. I just wanted a request (as many of us do, I know): I wanted him to sign the tattoo I have of him! I took a sign making this request (I actually had a tiny hope that it might happen!) Sir Paul enters. The crowd goes crazy and starts jumping up and down on the first song. I jump along. We're too excited! It's our idol up there!! When I'm falling down, my foot hits a water bottle. I fall. I twist my foot. Right in the middle of the first song, I have to be rushed to the doctor's attendance by two firemen. I couldn't believe that. My long dream was going away when the doctor tells me to go straight to the hospital. I start crying, not because of the pain, but LITERALLY because I could not leave that place. I said no. I wanted to go back to the concert! The doctor doesn't agree, but gets a piece of paperboard and puts on my foot and wrap it around, just to get a little bit of immobility. With the help of the firemen, I manage to go back there. Unfortunatelly, I had to stay away, in the grass, just watching the screens from a far distance. Didn't manage to go any close again, as I could not even put my foot on the ground. But those few seconds were enough. And you know what? It was, indeed, the best night of my life. I cry just thinking about it, remembering all the songs, all the jokes, all the words in portuguese (local slangs with an amazing accent!). I didn't manage to show him my sign saying how much I wanted his signature on the tattoo. I could not get his autograph at the end. But... it was all worthed. I may not have been able to gather his signature, but it was the best night of my life anyhow. The result: problem in the ligaments, 2 weeks with plaster, physical therapy afterwards. Most likely to need surgery afterwards. I won't loose hope, anyhow. Maybe someday I'll manage to go to another concert... and I'll hold my sign there! But I just wanted to say: thank you, Sir Paul, for your amazing music and unforgetable shows!!

Wow! Thank you for sharing your story! I am so sorry that happened to you, but I am very happy that you were able to stay for the concert and get to see Paul and that you were able to enjoy yourself even though I am sure you were in pain. I hope you get to see him again someday!

Did you see a girl, lying on the grass, crying her eyes out, with a piece of paperboard on her foot? Nice to meet you!

Dang Paula, what a way to spend your first Paulie concert. Glad you were able to see the rest of the show. You are the definition of a true fan in my book!
-
Paula, I'm so sorry for your ordeal at your very first Paul concert! That is heartbreaking!! I would have been crying hysterically too!! I'm glad you at least got to enjoy the rest of the show, although not from your first location or pain free. I hope you have a wonderful chance to do it all over again some day soon, with no injuries!!!!
-
Paula - you are a real "trooper" for continuing on with the concert. I hope that Paul somehow sees your story - I think he would appreciate your devotion and feel badly about your injury. Maybe he would send you a note or an autograph.

Oh, guys! Thank you a LOT for the support!! I really appreciate it!! But I'm sure that we all would have done the same! But it's nice to see all the positive feedback while I'm still stuck with it, since it's still immobilized!!
