"It's coming up...on thee hour...it's coming up...like a flower" I don't look at this as a fanciful statement. The human race has been a green plant growing for hundreds and thousands and millions of years... It has to flower sometime!

I got the connection but did not reply as I know Dr. King's vision is not realized here in Montgomery, Alabama. The city had lots of celebrations in the capitol of Alabama for Dr. King. People honoring his life and achievements. I can see the nation has come a long way, but the South still denies certain people their civil rights. Now it is not just about skin color, but it is about socioeconomic groups. If the State Of Alabama thinks you are not worthy of their praise they will destroy you and get away with it. There is still a group of people here that are in power and have the mind set of 'white power/rich people only' as they learned from their parents/grandparents, etc... If you talk about them, you pay the price. You would have to live here to understand. My father fought for civil rights in the 1960's. If he were alive today, he would be disgusted that my civil rights are not recognized, nor those of my Mom by the State of Alabama or the City of Montgomery. People don't have a clue what they are talking about when they say there is true equality in the South. p.s.> I am not whining about it all anymore. I am glad I got to see what I DO NOT want in my life. I do not want to attract racism or being judged by one's bank account balance, sexual preference, religion, whatever...I am ready to leave this place. You can only help a system if it wants help.

Well said Doris. It won't help to blame others for not acting according to our dream and therefore stop dreaming our dream.

Maybe that is true, but you can't dream yourself in to getting killed or raped or being made homeless by the establishment. It is nice and pretty to dream dreams from a protected place far away, but when you are on the front lines of a clash of power and deep pockets you can lose your life as did Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and others. If everyone had their civil rights completely taken away and experienced it they would know how helpless and violated one feels. It is a horrible experience I would not wish on my worst enemy and it is evil. No one should be denied the right to exist. That is a violation of human rights. Dream away, but remember there are those who actually live it.

Dr Martin Luther King 28 August 1963Some great things can be said without a lot of words ... only 16 minutes for Dr. King. Thanks for posting his message, al Sabah (I'm listening as I type)!

Yes, just because of my words...I surely don't want people to stop dreaming! Sometimes it is just hard being caught up in the actual life of it all. I still dream of peace all over the world. Peace & Love 2 ALL.

Lincoln's Gettysburg Address is only three paragraphs.

I don't see how anything I wrote should lead one to believe I am black. How might that be? I never mean to lead people in the wrong directions. Without revealing boring and useless things about myself, I am white/Native American Indian. Although I have been profiled by corrupt law enforcement agencies as white/ Mexican. (have document.) One does not have to be black or any particular race to be denied their civil or constitutional rights as a human being. For example there is: 18 U.S.C. / 242: Deprivation of Rights Under Color of Law You can be any race and have this happen to you. Also 42 U.S.C. /3631 Interference with Right To Fair Housing same thing. (You can read the definitions of these laws on any site. The DOJ site is useful.) My father was a journalist at the University of Alabama. He was also a speechwriter at the U.S. Army's Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama in the 1960's. He was not black. He despised the Ku Klux Klan and was there to see Gov. George C. Wallace stand in the doorway at the U of A to try to keep us all segregated forever. The Klan even threatened to blow up the UA's journalism department back then. So I guess I have from him, and innate disgust of injustice for any reason. That is really all there is.
