The Abbey Road Webcam

This is probably very old news, but if you check it during the nighttime hours in England, there are four lampposts, three on one side and one on the other, and they blink. All other lights appear to be solid. Double-Click on the player for Full Screen. http://search.earthcam.com/search/ft_search.php?s1=1&term=london

Did not know that. I actually got to cross Abbey RD in 2012 and it was a great thrill.

It's 8:40 am there now, and they're still blinking! The camera used to point the other direction (same as the Abbey Road cover) didn't it?

I will now be a showoff and tell you that I have crossed it 3 times ('93, '06 and '11) The first time I was in London in '80 somehow could not find it! Got to Abbey Road, but the wrong end of it. Duh!

I was there in '92 with three non-Beatle-fan friends. They indulged me to be there, but I too was somehow unable to see the correct crossing when I was actually there. We have a picture of us crossing a nearby one, though! ops:

Cool. My only regret is that I did not have the time to take my shoes off for the picture my wife took of me there - lol. BTW - that picture she took is my FB profile photo now- lol

Okay, so is it usual to have four Blinkers at Abbey Road?

Not sure. I know the poles have been there. For a month or two I would look at it almost every day and marvel that there ALWAYS seemed to be people posing for photos on it.

Yeah I found that out a few years ago....I went there a few years ago with my wife (as you can see in my signature) and whenever I am feeling nostalgic about my trip to London, I log on to view the Abbey Road webcam! ( I have issues, I know!).

It`s normal to have them at all zebra crossings. They have always been there.

I just looked at pics from 2006 and they were there. Can't locate (easily) the ones from '80 and '93.

Well, they weren't there in 1969! And I don't remember them being there in 1993. Edited to add: They were there in 1969, you just can't see them in most of the shots: (scroll down) http://www.feelnumb.com/2009/03/05/live-abbey-road-webcam-and-photos/

Yes, as I said before- all zebra crossings have them. (I`m British, you know - I know what I`m talking about. ).

But in Help! they said "British, you know, useless!" (JK) I thought maybe they were a newer thing and were not there in the past.
