Petition: The Back Seat Of My Car
-
Paul please play The Back Seat Of My Car. I can image Paul at the grand piano with some cool big city nighttime videos on the big screen behind him. I think this could be an epic song with a big ending similar to 1985. In fact, 1985 would be a great song to play right after it.

I'd love to hear it too, but not sure he could hit all the high notes.

That was my reaction too...but after thinking about, he already has Abe filling in for a lot of those high notes (think 'piece of cake')...so while probably not as good as Paul (from an authentic perspective), probably wouldn't come off any worse than anything else... Btw, I had read here one time that this band had rehearsed this number a couple of years; has anyone heard audio from this, especially via a YouTube vid?

Nope, never heard a peep. Wonder if there is any recording of it.

I'm posting this video not because of the song (It's actually Nineteen Hundred Eighty Five)...but more so for the downloader's comments...It says there was a 'partial' Back Seat of My Car rehearsal during the sound check on May 8th 2012 in Mexico...So at least we have a target date to look for it Also apparently there's a live bootleg of the entire concert (plus sound check?) that includes BSOMC (is that the right acronym...LOL)

Even if I liked this song, which to me crosses over into self parody less than a minute in, I fear there's no way he could handle the vocal now. Best to leave this one on the shelf.

I remember getting excited when I heard "Big Barn Bed" was being floated around Soundcheck. Then found out it was the "Ram" reprise version. Maybe it was just a little touch of the song...then again - it's my favorite song on the album so I would love to see it back in the spotlight.

There's no emoticon for "I half agree!" I like the song, but I agree with your second statement!

Tribute band 'Band On The Run' did the song tonight here in Cancun at the Beatles 50th Anniversary celebration. It was fan-f-ing-tastic!

I remember a radio-interview with Brian back in 2005, saying that "Back Seat..." was among the songs that the band would pre-rehearse before Macca would get involved. "Waterfalls" was another one. At one time, the interview was available as an on-demand podcast at one of the older McCartney fansites. I wish I could remember the name (maccaplanet.com? maccaworld.net? ... something like that). Another thing that I recall was the interviewer practically calling Paul and the band crazy for not performing "About You" on the Driving tours. Brian agreed that it was a good song for live performance.

Back Seat of My Car is one of my favourites as well.
