AROTR Line Up

JoeySmith:
So, there's 1 founding member of The Beach Boys touring & Mike Love gets to call it The Beach Boys. Huh?? Paul should brand his next tour as The Beatles
Well, Bruce Johnston is still in "his" group, and Al Jardine was too, until recently. Mike owns the right to the name. (Dennis & Carl Wilson are dead and Brian rarely tours.)

Brian Wilson has been touring more frequently the past couple of years, and he has a superb backing band. And there was a 5oth anniversary tour in 2012 which did feature Brian, Mike, Al and Bruce. I don't follow them closely so I don't know all the ins and outs of the rights to the name, etc, but I remember the anniversary tour was a big deal.

Gary Jacobs said you have to buy the BB's ticket, then get the $15 extra at checkout for all day pass. So that's around $64 for just Sunday to get Lawn seating. That's what I'm going for if I go. My seats last year really weren't that good and I paid about 4 times that for a two day pass.

On Sat. May 24th at 8:30 pm, Jukebox, The Return (from GA) and Brit Beat are doing a concert of 64 early Beatles songs! Should be great!!
-
Have you heard The Return play?
-
Fan4-45years:
Have you heard The Return?
Yes, MANY times. I've known Michael Fulop (who plays George) since 1995 when he was 17! He's the only original member. They are great! The used to be called The Roaches but had to change their name because some other band claimed they had it first. One time I saw them they started the show dressed like the Let It Be era, then went to Sgt. Pepper, then Shea Stadium suits, then black suits & ties to finish with the early stuff!
-
If they're from Georgia, I can believe they're great!
-
-
They are good. Were they there last year? Don't think I heard them play.

No, they haven't been there since 2008. See my Tweet and their answer to me: https://twitter.com/BeatlesReturn

Didn't think so.

Playing AROTR was probably the best musical experience of my life. Hope everyone that goes has a great time
-
Are you playing this year?
-
Unfortunatley not . The one and only time was Washington 2010. I teach music as well as play, and it's tough to arrange , as well as the finance involved.
-
Right. I hear you. Well, I'm glad it was so enjoyable for you the one time. I'm sure you get some interesting summer gigs, though
-
Yeah absolutley . I was the lead singer in Candlestick Park. That entity doesn't exist anymore , but the drummer and myself are now in "The Fab Forum" amongst other stuff - still having fun

Been going to this festival for a long time, Cleveland, DC and Louisville. Will be there this year as well, I am friends with quite a few of the acts there. Especially the Blue Meanies and ItchyCoo Park from Scotland!
-
The DC one is "no more" right? They moved it back to Cleveland for Labor Day? I'm looking forward to seeing The Return since I've been friends with them a long time, especially Michael who plays George. I don't know if I'll get to say Hi to Mike Love, but I've known him since 1978. I didn't get tickets for the meet-and-greet as they were too expensive! ($60 I think)

Hey Nancy, yes the DC one is no longer with us. Never really did great but then again, they really don't do much in advertising these things. Cleveland they brought back last year and they are putting out the feelers again this year to see who is interested. If not enough folks commit to going, I suppose that will not happen. Louisville has caught on and has a home. It does well there and a cool city to visit
