Top "Loser Songs"

Although I admit that Deacon Blues is a better song overall than I'm A Loser and it certainly deserves it's #1 slot, I Shot The Sheriff is not a great song and falls well short of I'm A Loser. IAL should have been #2 on the list as far as I'm concerned with Nowhere Man on the list too. Interesting article, thanks!

When I saw the title "Top Eleven Loser Songs" one particular song came to mind without looking at the list to see if it was there...it wasn't. "Alone Again (Naturally)" by Gilbert O'Sullivan. What a depressing song. And the second song I thought of was Eric Carmen's "All By Myself".

Good choices!

Interesting list. Lots of alternative choices are available. For example, Only the Lonely by Roy Orbison is great, but so is his Crying, which is equally appropriate for this list:

Crying is a beautiful song. Wicked Game by Chris Isaak, one of my all-time favourite songs, tops my list. A great video too, with Helena Christensen in all her glory. And only my fellow-Australians will understand this, but the Richmond Football club's theme song is a good 'loser' song.

OMG! I LOVE THIS VERSION! I immediately thought of the version with KD & I was going to post it. I used to request that one all the time when it 1st came out. LOVE IT!

Those are 2 good choices, Scarlett...very sad indeed! Long Long Time by Linda Ronstadt also comes to mind...another very sad song. She covered it very well.

Crazy that "I Shot The Sheriff" is on this list, much less at no 2. Good call Scarlett on the Gilbert O'Sullivan song -- it should have been no 1!! I remember it so well from my childhood and hearing it on AM radio! Here it is if you want to travel back in time...this guy had such a wonderful voice!!
