Jesse Winchester sang his song

Jesse Winchester has died. I had never heard of him, or maybe some time ago in passing between the popular songs on a radio station, and like a few other artists, I found this song after his passing.

But no, and it is a terrible truth that I have finally remembered from a thousand years ago it seems, that I now remember working at Warner/Reprise Creative Services and mailing out the demo for his album, "Nothing But a Breeze", and I even took a copy of it home, but it was overshadowed by the popular songs. The Doobies. The George Bensons. The Fleetwood Macs. And even the George Harrison "Dark Horse" releases. They all overshadowed Jesse Winchester. In my defense, it was a time of many well-written albums and demos, and mellower music, even by the likes of Neil Young, of Gordon Lightfoot, of Joni Mitchell, took a back seat to the dynamic offerings. But I have to consider that such is the same for the record companies, though perhaps for financial reasons, and not so much for the personal ones.
