"Lightning hits the house of wax, porridge spills out on the street". Seriously though, what is this song about? I just keep seeing a waxworks museum in my head.

Um...I'm gonna have to pull out the movement-you-need-is-on-your-shoulder card for that one.

If it's just Paul playing around with words, I'd love to know where the inspiration came from. If there was any catalyst that started it all off. Great song though - very emotional.

On Band on the Run, just saw the video where it said, "All I need is a pint today" Not being from England, I always thought it was " All I need is a fine today" ops:

I like the wild demented horses bit. I saw this song used in a DVD about the whole Paul is Dead fiasco. Kinda fits...buried deep below... Lightning hits the house of wax Poets spill out on the street To set alight the incomplete Remainders of the future Hidden in the yard Hidden in the yard Thunder drowns the trumpets blast Poets scatter through the night But they can only dream of flight Away from their confusion Hidden in the yard Underneath the wall Buried deep below a thousand layers lay The answer to it all Lightning hits the house of wax Woman scream and run around To dance upon the battleground Like wild demented horses Hidden in the yard Underneath the wall Buried deep below a thousand layers lay The answer to it all Yeah Hidden in the yard Underneath the wall Buried deep below a thousand layers lay The answer to it all Ooh...

In Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey, instead of "He had to have a berth or he couldn't get to sea" I used to think it was "He had to have a bath or he couldn't get to sleep!"

I thought it was " he had to have a buzz or he couldn't get to sleep" I mean, that makes a lot more sense!!

I also used to think that "To a registered charity" in Band on the Run was "too rich for charity". Problem is, for me, a lot of these songs I "learned" when I was very young and learned them incorrectly (and stayed that way for years) so it is STILL hard for me to let go of my incorrect lyrics. Even today, in the car, driving home from work BOTR came on the radio and I paused at that spot. Even though I know better now.

I learned to play a lot of Beatles songs on the guitar starting at age 13 (196 and the lyrics were sometimes wrong, like in A Hard Day's Night, the line is "So why on earth should I moan" but 2 songbooks that I had it said "So why I love to come home!"

Maybe they made it more "kid friendly"? Like Ed Sullivan had the Doors and the Stones change their lyrics. That is a line that I had trouble with long ago. I used to think it was "so while I ought to get home"

When I was younger (so much younger than today) I thought the chorus on 'Smile away' was "it's my world"... Even wondered where the title came from...
