Hey Diddle....again
-
Seems odd putting 'Hey Diddle' on the V&M bonus when it was already included on the Ram reissue albeit in a different mix. I guess they re-recorded it during the V&M sessions.
-
I should add that I do love the song. So not a complaint really, I just hope this mix is better than the silly left/right panned vocals on the Dixon Van Winkle mix.
-
I assume that the summer 1974 Nashville overdub session puts it (at a stretch) into the 'Venus and Mars' time-frame, even though that album didn't really begin until November 1974.
-
Also a snippet (as part of an informal medley of sorts) on Wingspan

They added the fiddles to the basic Ram recording in Nashville '74. I'm thrilled to get this in better quality. We'll probably see the vocal version of "Sunshine Sometime" on the BTTE set. Maybe we'll get the '86 Richard Niles orchestrated version of "Hey Diddle" on a future set as well.

It makes perfect sense to me... Venus and Mars and it always sounded like a special song for Linda and Paul. I've always loved the song... Wasn't there something about the table and dovetail joints?

I remember first listening to Paul's songs on headphones...which I'm thinking the idea of having headphones was a much newer concept back then, they were huge and bulky and not the availability of today...anyway, I always really liked when Paul did that sort of thing, especially that song that had the drums going what sounded like, in a circle. I remember thinking it was really cool. It became a whole new song with the headphones It still does...

Yeah I love listening to music through headphones. It's just I think there were better mixes than the Dixon mix, so I thought it a shame that this was the first one to be officially released.
