Beatle's music

- Just wanted to know if Paul, John, or Ringo ever suggested any specific sound or riff to George on any of the Beatle's songs? 2) Recommendations for the best books about the Beatle's music history, i.e., inspiration, lyrics, member's feelings about the song, etc. Thanks, Mike; Lubbock, Texas

To answer #2 - "The Playboy Interview with John Lennon and Yoko Ono" in which John goes over pretty much every song he wrote with Paul. It has fascinating insight into their songwriting process and all their inspiration and competitiveness. Try and find the unabridged book version called "All We Are Saying". "The Beatles Anthology" covers a lot of musical territory in their own words and history, including George's. For George's thoughts on his own music his book "I Me Mine", will be the best. Finally, the best book about their music that I've seen is "The Complete Beatles Recording Sessions" by Beatles expert/historian Mark Lewisohn. Happy reading!
