Ringo Live in L.A. This Afternoon
-
Ringo just called into Chris Carter's "Breakfast With The Beatles" to announce a gig he will be doing this afternoon in Los Angeles with current and former All Starrs! http://www.945thehawkradio.com/common/more.php?m=58&ts=1410797127&article=CCF2C3713CBF11E4B51EFEFDADE6840A&mode=2

So... I was at today's event at John Varvatos' store today, and while today's event was billed as a public one, it turned out to be a private one. My best guess was that there was some miscommunication in Ringo's camp that led to the mixup. However, I still got to be inside for the event. But before I go into details about the event, story time: I got to the store around 1:30 in the afternoon or so. I was going to meet up with a bunch of friends of mine there (who got there before I did), and once I arrived, one of my friends told me that the event was private. I thought he was joking, but it turned out he wasn't. After about 30 minutes or so, they pushed us back about a half a block down from the store and placed a barricade in front of the dozen or so people that had gathered. Of course, as time went on, more people arrived, and we had to tell them that it was a private event. Flash forward a couple of hours later, a fairly big crowd of people where there behind the barricade, thinking at one point that maybe Ringo would come out and say something (turns out he didn't; when he arrived he just put up peace signs and went inside). I eventually got inside because I'm Chris Carter's assistant. Also, the store itself is pretty small; the parking lot is out front, and the stage was there, however, you could barely see the stage from the outside because of a wall made of hedges that they had built. It was a fairly large crowd inside, about 200 people or so. I saw Paul Stanley from Kiss, Clem Burke from Blondie, John Cho (Harold from the "Harold and Kumar" movies and Sulu from the J.J. Abrams' "Star Trek" films). The event itself started at 4, and the event lasted a couple of hours, with the band playing from 5 to 6. The setlist was as follows (I'm doing this from memory, so I may have forgotten a song or two): Tobacco Road, sung by Edgar Winter Broken Wings Hold the Line Rocky Mountain Way, sung by Joe Walsh Matchbox With a Little Help From My Friends I apologize if this post is kinda rambling, but that's my story for today. I also have a few pics that I'll post in a bit, too.

Thanks for the story and pics. Sounds a bit mismanaged, but must have been fun for those who were there.

This little concert appearance begs the question...Is this going to be the All Starrs band lineup for the fall tour starting in October?

No, the October dates will be the same lineup Ringo's had since 2013.
