THE MOODY BLUES...
-
I couldn't find a Moody Blues thread...but, I thought there was one at one time! I have loved their music since they first came out! Here is a recent interview of Justin in which he cites Lennon and McCartney as being the best songwriters of his generation. At around 1:20
And a link to their tour schedule... http://www.moodybluestoday.com/index.cfm/pk/content/pid/401891 -
Thanks for the heads up ... I was hoping a new album might have come out ... That doesn't appear to be the case ... I'm just not sure about going to NYC next month. There are still some seats available

I've got tix for October.

went to my last moodies gig this year, health reasons, Justin and john hit bum notes and this was in an theatre but still a great show. live means bum notes.

Saw them for my 16th birthday in 1996. Great show.

Thanks for starting the thread. I got to see them in St. Augustine this year - I've always loved Nights in White Satin. I love playing the bass part and doing the flute solo on my clarinet.
-
I'm glad to see the band will be getting back together & touring
-
My contribution to this thread - I love playing Go Now on piano (mostly because it's easy and within my skill set....and it sounds good no matter who's playing it -LOL)

I'm sure if you can play that song, there are a lot more you can do as well (other band songs). For me, I like Tuesday Afternoon - that's a fun song to play (a bit challenging to make it sound good solo - but not too hard).
-
Three songs that I really like: 'Question', 'Steppin' in a slide zone' and 'Blue world'
-
I love the Moody Blues and have all their albums (in vinyl) and a "Best Of" CD as well. I think they're my 2nd favorite band from the '60's after The Beatles of course.
-
I LOVE THE MOODY BLUES TOO! My favorite songs are "Tuesday Afternoon," "Nights In White Satin" and "Your Wildest Dreams" just to name a few. There are many more, too many to list.

The Moody Blues put an ad in the paper looking for a musician. One of them later replied in an interview, "Imagine getting Justin Hayward from a want ad!"

What do they need? A singer? A guitarist?

No, the want ad was placed in the latter 1960's - it was the Animal's lead singer that placed the ad. They already got the lead guitarist they wanted, Eric Burton passed Justin's name & number onto the Moody Blues.

Either way...I heard differently...The Moody Blues still wound up with Justin Hayward from...A Want Ad!
