Was John really going to work with Paul in Nashville 1974?
-
According to several accounts, John was going to visit Paul in Nashville & do some recording together. A real shame it never happened.
-
Nashville/New Orleans... It's a tasty thought...but in hindsight, it might also have been for the best. Of course whatever they did would have been interesting, but ...
-
Nah. Just talk. Even though New Orleans was supposedly on the cards I reckon it was just John talking crap.
-
...I reckon crap is the word. Folks would be expecting Beatles classics. "Book studio...Just add John and Paul and stir..." ...They'd have never recaptured that 60's dynamic. IMO...

...or smoking dope!

Since it never happened, I guess not.

Isn't this like, confirmed?. Paul has told the story I think., about how there's a postcard that John sent someone (Mal?) where he mentioned he was going to see Paul to New Orleans?.
-
It's. Not crap Lennon considered it. But that's when he ended up going back to Yoko & several years of seclusion. Some people think Yoko may have drugged Lennon when he first returned to her. John and Paul jammed together and hung out with Ringo not long before this. Lennon was lovesick for Yoko however. Paul acted as a go between helped them get back together. But while John was with May Pang the John Paul relationship started getting much warmer. How sad.

There is a bootleg recording from their jam session on 28 March 1974 in Los Angeles called "A Toot and a Snore in '74". I wonder how their "working together" had sounded in Nashville.
-
think Paul knew they could not collaborate again a 4 year separation in the '70s is like a lifetime also probably thought that if John was back with Yoko might stop him doing stupid things.
-
Where does the story of Paul helping John and Yoko get back together come from from anyway?. I think I've only ever heard it in message boards. Or maybe I should ask this question as a separate thread.

I remember Paul himself telling this story during an interview although I do not recall when or where it was.

I just know in interviews that year he said Paul and him were OK, and that as far as a Beatles' reunion was concerned "anything was possible". He was still on his "lost weekend" when he said those things, so if he hadn't gotten back together with Yoko who knows? It's a fair speculation to say it might have happened.
