crying during Pauls concerts
-
Maybe this is just me I'm a 41 year old guy who never cries not even when my ex dumped me. Yet every time paul comes on stage I cry tears of joy, normally just the first couple of songs, but tonight it was for the first 6 songs . During here today and something I cry for John and George. Anyone else get emotional at pauls concerts?

Not exactly crying but I remember feeling very excited the first time I saw him live in 1989. But I also remember a concert with Townes Van Zandt, where he; the artist cried through the concert. He died only a year or so later and he was probably out of balance or something. I think of it as the strangest concert I've been to, he sang and cried and we the audience applauded. Sometimes he cried so severely that he had to stop songs to cry out. He should perhaps have been helped off the stage, but you sit there and don't really understand what goes on... Anyway, Paul McCartney! :

During Paul's 2002 Washington DC show I choked up once and full-on cried once. The choking up was during the opening tune, "Hello Goodbye." Something about the symbolism of it all just hit me: Here was Paul out tour with this new and younger band, onstage for the first time in decades without Linda. George had been gone less than a year, and there he is singing, "I don't know why you say goodbye, I say hello" and it just hit me like a ton of bricks. And that tour, of course, was the first tour he played "Here Today." I'd avoided reading about the set list so it hit me totally by surprise and I just cried my eyes out -- and from what I could tell I wasn't alone in that reaction. They nearly had to get the janitorial crew to come mop me up off the floor.

The na na na na Hey Jude singalong has gotten to me a few times. The overwhelming sense of togetherness is very touching.

I got teary eyed the first time I saw him in concert in 2010 when he hit the stage for the first number. It was emotional for me finally being able to see him live for the very first time after years and years of having to miss him whenever he came nearby. I still get a bit misty during Here Today, even 5 years later.

I reckon even even at his age paul still makes a lot of women wet at his gigs. I had tears during the long and winding round at anfield a few years back. It was like a spiritual rising during the song

Seeing Paul McCartney live is a tour-de-force of music and thus naturally, emotions. How can you not get emotional at certain parts? The 6 times I've seen him I've had varying emotions. The first few times I struggled through Hear Today, and as well at certain points throughout the gig in general. The music means different things for different people for many different reasons. Sometimes I get emotional watching the footage from Hyde Park 2010, my first Macca gig, seeing him perform Got To Get You Into My Life. On Saturday night for example I did well up a bit for Maybe I'm Amazed, last night I compose myself but my mother certainly did get very emotional and had a few tears, which she laughed about afterwards. It's a beautiful ting, man!

Nope. Never cried at a McCartney concert or any concert. But I have been very excited and had a hell of a good time!!
-
Was too busy screaming my head off to cry (LOL) A poster mentioned Townes Van Zandt...I partied with him one weekend, rode on the back of his motorcycle, etc. , but I guess everybody has.
-
I know people who think of Townes Van Zandt as the greatest songwriter of all time. He is like a myth to them. a great personality. I think he's good and for my part could he sold all the country music records Garth Brooks has sold too much of even though I tend to lean over to pop and nonsense.

If he ever recognizes that Japan isn't the only country in Asia, I promise to cry.

What, they don't have $25 seats anymore?
-
I almost lost it(nearly cried) during Maybe I'm Amazed this Saturday. Something so good, how could anyone not get emotional at times?

I see what you mean, I come from a country that many believe is somewhere in Sweden. Not that it prevents some Norwegians from believing that they are the world's navel... :

I've cried a couple of times at shows. In Hyde Park, Paul singing Here Today hit me ..as I listened to the lyrics, I thought of how Paul must have loved John. Later, when I first heard Early a Days... I also burst out sobbing and was thinking how tragic it must have been for Paul...all the things people say about them... "They can't take it from me, if they tried I lived through those early days So many times I had to change the pain to laughter Just to keep from getting crazed" Wow, so poignant!! It had me really crying.

Watching him playing through 'Linda' songs in 2002 had me in tears. I never got to see them together on stage.
-
Never mind crying at his gigs, I get all choked up when listening to his live albums (Back in the US or something).!!
