"Another Girl"

I don't know what you all think, but watching the videos of the last shows I can't understand why he still does Hey Jude, Live And Let Die and all those songs that even he himself seems so bored doing. The uneasy gestures he makes: his hands through his hair and the 'acting' after LALD, it just doesn't look as though he is enjoying it. Actually I find it artistically wrong to perform what the crowds want....
IMHO, Live and Let Die is never coming out of the set. It always gets such a great reaction to the pyrotechnics, and Paul loves that. Hey Jude is never going to come out, either; that is one of the most well-known Beatles songs, everyone sings along, people would notice if it was missing.
I fear that you are right there, but I find it so... so... what shall I say...so limited, so boring (specially HJ), so artistically wrong, so un-daring.

Yep. Much more Wings please. Another Girl is a welcome addition as was it's sister song, The Night Before. Both mid Beatles era favourites of mine.
I agree. I hope he does them in Oslo next month! I don't know what you all think, but watching the videos of the last shows I can't understand why he still does Hey Jude, Live And Let Die and all those songs that even he himself seems so bored doing. Actually I find it artistically wrong to perform what the crowds want.... He should also never ever do My Love and The Long and Winding Road again, IMO.They are so tediously dragging along and not at all melodiously attractive. What about e.g. My Brave Face and Ballroom Dancing?
Like Maybe I'm Amazed, My Love is a song he is no longer capable of singing. Actually, Blackbird too. The Long and Winding Road is the most bloated, tedious, overrated Beatles song in his catalogue: an absolute dirge. Strangely, he deems it a masterpiece.
-
Yeah, if he still had the voice for it, I wouldn't mind hearing the songs mentioned. But I'm so sick of Hey Jude! I think I've heard that song (radio and live) at least a million times since 1968! I want to hear Beautiful Night, No More Lonely Nights, and What You're Doing (do you think his voice could handle those?)

I am so glad at least one of you agrees, Moptops ! Blackbird too, I agree, is no longer an option.

I am not sick of the song Hey Jude itself, but of the utterly embarrassing show he makes of it. I mean: what does he himself think of it? And the band? Can't you tell from his face? He hates it, if you ask me. Is it not also an underrating of the audience? As if we wouldn't be capable of handling a 'new' song!? :

What You're Doing. The others no way he could sing.

It is so sad that he neglected singing those in the '90s and '00s when he still could!

So true of many of his songs.

Here I also agree, Nancy R! I would die to hear Beautiful Night (almost all songs of Flaming Pie, not surprising if you know he was inspired by the Anthology at that time..) and especially No More Lonely Nights.

I think "Another Girl" was a brilliant addition to the set list, in the same way "Lovely Rita" was. I'm still holding out hope for "Uncle Albert".....someday.
-
After hearing Another Girl live in Oslo it worked much better than I had expected. Still, would prefer him adding more solo/Wings songs.
-
I just saw a video of him singing I'll Get You in 2005. I really like that song.

Me too. Beats me why Please Please Me never came back anywhere after O5. I thought it worked great in the encore: sounded fantastic.

In addition to those two from the '05 Tour, I always wondered why he never brought back "She's Leaving Home"...it was done so beautifully in '02!

How about For No One??One of his best tunes. Gone with the wind. But All Together Now Is a staple!! :

Check out For No One from St Petersburg 04. The sun shines onto the prompter, Paul forgets words, wowee...a dog's breakfast. Great song though, of course.

I have to say, All Together Now works tremendously in concert. I've seen a few Out There shows in different countries and the crowd get right into it; similarly Dance Tonight. Pretty ordinary songs but they fire the crowd up.

Then he should do Yellow Submarine, he wrote it, after all.

I'd like him to sing "The Drinking Song" from Oratorio. Seriously!
