ELO

I am loving them right now!!! just have a best of album, but its never off!!! anyone else sharing this ELO summer?!
-
I have a best of too, but I had an ELO summer a few years ago. Good stuff.
-
I know what you mean. I normally don't buy best of albums anymore (usually for bands I like I prefer the album tracks to the singles), but recently saw one for ELO in a bargain bin, and I have no other ELO, so I picked it up. It is fantastic. That will probably lead me into buying more material.

Just bought this box set: Bargain price. I didn't own a single ELO track before I got this, I think. Now I have almost all of them! Just listened to the first couple of albums so far. Very different sound to what I expected, only really knowing a few of the ELO hits. Really enjoying it though. Some top quality music, and very varied and weird! Fave track so far is "From The Sun to the World (BOOGIE No. 1)", but plenty of great stuff to come, I'm sure.

I plan on buying Mr. Blue Sky (Jeff Lynne's remakes of ELO hits) and his new album Long Wave.
-
Have 2 of their GH albums, and there was the Jeff Lynne doc a few month back, superbly crafted songs

Ken Bruce on BBC Radio 2 this morning has announced some exciting news for ELO fans coming soon but no hints as to what it actually is.
-
Not a big fan of ELO in a way that I have all their records but they made some catchy infectious songs. I think everything Jeff Lynne records have a particular ELO sound.

I dont normally complain about ticket prices but i cant help that ELO's are on the expensive side frankly, yes i know in the UK at least Paul's are a bit more expensive but you know what you're getting 3 hours of quality,Jeff hasnt toured for what 30 years or so? Too much of a gamble for me.

Seeing Jeff live is one of my bucket list guys, I saw him at CFG but I always wanted to see him perform his songs. I was planning on going over for the Liverpool show because I just don't think there is enough demand for an arena tour of the States and I am not sure Jeff will bother with smaller venues. Luckily he added some small venue shows to promote the new record and I got tix for Irving Plaza this morning. I am sure the show will be very similar to the Porchester Hall show and I am fine with that
-
He's going to play a smaller venue in NYC on a Friday at 6PM. Too early for me to get there. It's sold out. Hope he does another venue on the weekend! Listening to the new album
-
Been away at a Metal festival all weekend but managed to bag a couple of tickets for Jeff's show in Glasgow next April. That's another one off my "To See" list.

This is a GREAT boxed set!! I got it as a gift and now all I need is Zoom and Alone in the Universe. It seems the deluxe version is only available on Amazon, in the U.S. Have the new album for free on Spotify! Jeff just added a 4th concert to the O2! Thinking of crossing the pond, so have been saving for a while... At 140 £ that's 212$ and a plane ticket! Can't get to the one in NY I LOVE this new album, every song is fantastic. My favs so far are All My Life, The Sun Will Shine On You, Love and Rain with that bouncy bass, When I Was A Boy, When The Night Comes, Talk To Me very ELOy, Alone In The Universe...I'm naming the whole album It's wonderful!!

love2travel flew over for the ELO Hyde Park show last year and we had a blast, the gig was one of the best I've been too, it certainly wasn't a gamble hengirl! You just have to watch the DVD of the show to realise how good it was. I do think the show will be longer on the tour than the Festival headliner slot. I'm going to two of the four London shows it was that good last year. Also, Jeff's voice hasn't changed that much, no touring has helped him preserve it. The link below shows ELO playing last Thursday for the BBC In Concert programme.
