I believe there was a similar attempt to put a stop to scalping and the "bots" a few years ago by Bruce Springsteen which also went to Congress. That effort came to nothing. Hopefully this will have better results.

what they need is stop places to sell those tickets at such inflated prices

It won't stop as long as the industry is benefiting from it.

The Springsteen thing had to do with a NY or NJ show where people trying to buy tickets on Ticketmaster got automatically redirected to TicketsNow, TM's reseller, without being given a choice, and some of them bought higher-priced tickets without realizing it. I can't remember what happened with the legislation, tho.

Is this bots practice internationally, or was this a local NY State issue. I know Charles Shumer got involved, but I think he might be a NY congressman(or senator?) so that might imply this action maybe be a local concern?

Schumer is a Senator for the State of New York, so the legislation he is introducing is to the US Congress. If this law was eventually passed by the entire Congress (it is a slow process for something to become law), it would be effective for the entire US. But probably not internationally.

This has happened to me, when I tried buying tickets at 10:00 on the dot, there were already hundreds of tickets on the reseller site. I couldn't get a good seat. They were all on Ticketmasters reseller site for double and triple the price! It's happened several times now and I might have to stop going to concerts

Obviously, nothing! As this latest ticket fiasco shows. Nothing has changed at all. Ticketmaster is an accomplice to ticket scalping!
