Latest Rolling Stone mag.com lists some "bad first albums" from "some of the best" and cites George Harrison's as one...what kind of shite is this !!?? Do they mean "All Things Must Pass"? This is outrageous--I haven't gone there yet, don't wanna bust a blood vessel if someone wrote that. Will Get mad as a hornet. "All Things Must Pass" is bloody great. You think? What's up with this

Do you realize that "Wonderwall Music" is George's first solo album and not "All Things Must Pass"?

Thats pretty lame. Wonderwall Music is an experimental album. Thats in the same category as Family Way or 2 Virgins, if thats the criteria. In fact, Harrison is an example of having 1 of the best all-time debuts albums.
-
I used to have Wonderwall on vinyl. It's a soundtrack of instrumentals and not a collection of songs. It really isn't that bad though, especially compared to Two Virgins.
-
Electronic Sound was another of George's experimental albums released on the Zapple label in 1969!!! I truly believe this album influenced Pink Floyd!!

I still have it in vinyl and I think it is great! I used to listen to it a lot after I first got it when I was 13 in 1968! http://www.bing.com/search?q=george+harrison+wonderwall+music&form=PRHPCS&pc=HPDTDFJS&mkt=en-us&refig=b3bf847d0bee40a8951155d7dc54a3a1&ghc=1&filters=ufn%3A%22george+harrison+wonderwall+music%22+sid%3A%22b705a557-8337-059d-f478-b785fa186931%22&qs=MB&pq=wonderwall+mus&sc=8-14&sp=1&cvid=b3bf847d0bee40a8951155d7dc54a3a1 Two Virgins and Life With The Lions I listened to exactly one time each! Never again!

I was reading a biography about George and it said that he had just bought one of the first Moog Synthesizers, and that at least part of the album was some demo music that he recorded by some other musicians. The book claims George then put it out as the album Electronic Sound without crediting the other musicians. The Synthesizer was later used to great effect on the Abbey Road album.

Hi beatlesfanrandy!!! How are you? Thank you for your post, everything you said is true. At that time in the late 60's it was illegal to credit other musicians on an album since the other musicians were working for different record labels. George couldn't credit Eric Clapton as well as many well known musicians when George recorded the ALL THINGS MUST PASS album in 1970, those musicians didn't get their due until later.

Didnt George co-write the hit 'Badge' with Clapton but he wasnt given credit on the Cream album?

Yes. It's Wonderwall Music. It's not bad at all.
Shout Factory TV has the movie "Wonderwall" online, uncut with commercials. Search for them and at the top of their home page click Film > Cult from the pulldown. Or go here: http://www.shoutfactorytv.com/wonderwall/5500998869702d070897ce00 http://www.shoutfactorytv.com/ -

That explains it--I didn't mean to be so vehement, but "All Things Must Pass" is pretty great with the real nice sound (slide guitars) and philosophical lyrics, and George's singing sounds deep and heavy to complement the rather profound song lyrics
