Heartbeat - 1977 promo video from "Holly Days"

Very cool! I have the album but never saw the video.
-
Rodent. Good Buddy cover? Rats!!! Cheesy as hell.

WTF? Denny is worse than Paul without a guitar in his hands!
-
Remove Denny's vocal and forget the fact that its a Buddy Holly song, and what's left is the emergence of the McCartney II album sound of three years later.
-
More proof that McCartney was Wings. It's a shame that Paul didn't have a talented producer or co-writer that could push him in the seventies.
-
I have Holly Days on vinyl. It's of an awfulness that bends the mind. It's hard to imagine anyone more lacking in talent than Denny Laine.

He is sub ordinary, isn't he?
-
Denny Laine was as talented or more so than any other member of Paul's solo acts, Wings, tour bands, whatever. He sang solo on many songs, he wrote songs with Paul, in concert he PERFORMED and played guitar, bass and piano. Holly Days is as much Paul's success or failure as Denny Laine's seeing as he produced it. I always thought of it as a labor of love on their part, never as some grand statement about talent or career defining. To be fair, after Wings, we heard very little from Denny. Same with everyone who was in a post Beatles act with Paul. Were they all a bunch of no talents too? I don't think so.

All I can say is, I want my two quid back.

Huh? To say that Denny Laine is anywhere near the talent level of Elvis Costello is absurd.
-
Denny Laine is pedestrian garbage. He got REAL lucky.

I can imagine him walking through the streets of Shoreditch on a sunny Sunday morning!

Was Elvis Costello a member of Paul's solo acts, Wings, or tour bands? Because that is what I was talking about. I would not put Costello in that category.

Oh come on now. If he was pedestrian garbage, so are Rusty, Brian, Abe, Robbie, Hamish, Chris, Blair, Lawrence, Steve, Jimmy, Joe, Henry, and the other Denny. I don't think they are. But maybe you do.
-
The track has a "Waterspout" vibe to it, if you ask me.

I do think Denny is total crap, but it's just my opinion. Re: the others, most are far FAR better players (eg) Juber and Robbie. I will have more to say on the subject of Brian Hines soon. It's bound to be very controversial. But that's the way I roll...

...well yes, they're both garbage, so they have that in common.

But Juber and Robbie weren't doing Denny's part, they were doing Henry and Jimmy. Hamish and Brian did and do Denny's part. But fair enough. If you don't like Denny, you don't like Denny. Or Jeff Lynne!
