Anyone else HATE the Love album?
-
I have Beatles' stations (Pandora, I Heart Radio) streaming all the time in my car. Half the time, they are playing cuts from this album versus the originals. Ughh. When I listen to Blackbird, I dont want a 45-second instrumental followed by a Yesterday demo. I want the original. I cant believe Paul gave this album his blessing. The "remixes" add nothing except distraction & annoyance to most Beatles fans.
-
Err, maybe play your own stuff?

... Since when? I've heard nothing but praise for the "Love" album.

I LOVE the LOVE CD!! It is a refreshing way to listen to Beatle music, though I never tire of the original recordings. But I do take them for granted. LOVE helps me appreciate The Beatles all over again.

I take it you haven't seen Love live? Once you've seen it you'll understand better why the songs are the way they are, and the flow of things. You can't tell from just listening to the CD how the show is actually put together with the songs.

I just hate it when some radio station would play some tracks from it, instead of the original. It's better to listen to the whole album - from start to finish.

HATE the Love album? No. LOVE it? Yes.

It's the soundtrack to the Cirque production. Listen to it as such. You can listen to the originals if you don't like the "mash-ups". But I thought Giles and George Martin did a great job!

This thread geed me into taking out my album ... just an old time CD..... so on the ride to and from work..... yup, still a GREAT LISTEN!!!!! I love LOVE!

Joey's reaction may be similar to some people disliking Paul's rare "Thrillington" album (?), which is comprised of all instrumentals of "Ram" songs Or maybe this comment isn't really relevant to this thread? For some reason I just thought of "Thrillington" when I read all this.

You can't compare "Thrillington" and "Love". They're not the same. "Thrillington" contains orchestral versions of songs from "Ram," and "Love" contains remixes of Beatles songs.

I think that the "LOVE" album is a masterpiece!!!

if you get a chance to listen to the LOVE album in surround sound, plunk yourself in the middle of 4 speakers, it is just UNBELIEVABLE As someone here mentioned, if at all possible get to Vegas and see the Cirque de Soleil perform this....absolutely a treasure, visually and sound wise. If you love the Beatles music, it is worth every dollar!

I dig Love.

I know what the OP means. It feels a bit Jive Bunny at times. It does work for those who can't stand the original stereo mixes thru the iPod headphones, and A Day in the Life is better arguably. Noel Gallagher of Oasis also hated it, says he put it on and quickly had to turn it off. It does sound a bit artificial. I did see the Love musical and wasn't that enamoured with it. I'm not even sure The Beatles stuff works great in that context, though Harrison's songs worked best, and it was his idea to push the project, I understand. His songs had a grandiose feel and were less poppy. Otherwise you're stuck with the Yellow Sub songlist album for modern remix remasters of Beatle classics.

Nope. I love it.

I like the "Love Album" good supplement to the originals

I agree. A different approach. And the final Beatles' project that George Martin was involved in. I'm glad to have it!
