Ringo wants to tour with Paul
-
Ringo Starr would be thrilled to perform with fellow former Beatle Paul McCartney again. "I would tour with Paul McCartney tomorrow!" Starr told Closer Weekly. "I'm doing my own tours right now so we'd have to work it out." Starr and McCartney are a long way from their Beatles days. The drummer recently turned 76. "It would be nice to be 70 again!" he told the mag of his birthday. "But you get up in the morning and you try to have the best day you can. And be in the best spirit that you can be!" Starr has fond memories of his time as part of the Fab Four. He told FOX411 earlier this month that he can vividly recall the moment the band first came to United States. "Coming to America, was a most incredible moment in my life," he said. "We landed in New York. All the music I loved came from America, and we were weeks before like unknown, and we were worried. 'Well they don't know us there. They knew us in Denmark. They knew us in England. They knew us in Spain.'"

I would love this!

Hey look at this article! http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2016/07/21/ringo-starr-wants-to-perform-with-paul-mccartney-again.html Ringo said he'd peform with Paul again tomorrow if he had the chance. Can you imagine? But there is Abe to consider he is Paul's regular drummer now...unless Abe decides to take a week off or so so Ringo can join in or simply have two drummers on stage

Of course! Even Ringo himself has a second drummer on stage during his shows, so no problem there. I doubt it will actually happen, but it is a beautiful idea. Anyway. What I understand is that Ringo actualy said he WOULD perform with with Paul (tomorrow). The title "Ringo Starr wants to perform with Paul McCartney again" is something the "journalist" made up to have a click-generating title. I am not a native English speaker, but I feel those two "informations" are actually worlds apart. So I take it as a typical example of bad journalism, something which actually has nothing to do with journalism at all. A click-generator, that's all.

Yeah, Ringo was just answering that if asked, he would perform with Paul. It's not like Ringo all of the sudden decided to tell a journalist "I want to perform with Paul again!"

Agreed. I read it the same way. Nothing about touring together. They each do their own tours as they always have, and appear together rarely, when the circumstance is right for both of them.

They're starting the juggernaut of press building up to the release of the Ron Howard film Eight Days A Week: The Beatles Touring Years, and the Hollywood Bowl live album in Sept. So of course they are going to be talking about playing together again. Even if they don't actually do it. I was lucky to see Paul and Ringo play together at the taping of The Night That Changed America TV special in 2014. Paul and "his band" started by playing Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and then Ringo walked on as "the one and only Billy Shears" to sing With A Little Help From My Friends. Then he stayed onstage and hopped on the drum kit for the program finale Hey Jude. Abe played his kit too. Nobody had any idea they were even doing their own sets, let alone play together! It was a special and magical occasion. I am so glad I was there to witness it. The next few months are going to be exciting for Beatles fans!

Three friends of mine from CA were also there that night! At least I have it saved on my DVR!

Of course it's the usual PR for the film and the Hollywoodbowl CD. What's next on the agenda? I guess Paul saying he had always wanted to finish "Now and Then" from 1994. But anayway. I'm looking forward to the Hollywood Bowl CD. Although I'm a bit disappointed. They could have released something like a Live Anthology... On the other hand I'm sure they will release the film on DVD, too. As a deluxe edition with the Hollywood Bowl CD. And "we" are going to buy it twice...

Haha! No, that's only when he's about to release a new album.

Have said this before - would love this to happen. Would also love them to do an album - just them - nobody else involved. Ringo drums on it, Paul plays all the other instruments. 7 Paul vocals, 3 Ringo, and 2 duets. Perfect. Would love this.

There's plenty of Live on the Anthology itself. I would love to see other full concert releases from this project too...Adelaide '64, Palais des Sports '65, Shea Stadium, Budokan '66 (Evening Show) - with the full band version of Yesterday, but I guess this will have to do. Hopefully, the film will cover a lot of it.

In the past few years The Rolling Stones have been releasing "From The Vaults" series - oficial releases of live recordings that have for years circulated as bootlegs. Those official releases have of course the best possible audio / video quality. Really nice treat for the fans. It would be great if the same was done with Beatles / ex-Beatles stuff. Of course, The Rolloing Stones fans moan that The Stones should do something like The Beatles Anthology

[Rod Serling-esque voice] ...IMAGINE IF YOU WILL... A world tour. Ringo's All-Stars play first, then Paul and his band would close the show. With Ringo on tha droomz! (At times; most likely not the whole show.) http://kwbe.com/abc_classicr/fab-reunion-ringo-starr-says-hed-tour-with-paul-mccartney-tomorrow-abcid35738465/ Talk about the concert of the century. I'd: ...hock all my possessions / and sell a little dope* to attend that one! D'ya think we could convince him?? Rolling Eyes

I was there too. It was indeed special. I shouldn't feel greedy after that, but....I would love to hear them play an entire show together, Beatles songs and songs from their respective solo careers.

Paul kind of shut the idea down in his latest Rolling Stone magazine interview
Would you ever consider doing a tour with Ringo? It's never come up. We come together for things like the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. But to actually tour together - leave well enough alone.

Taxed from the RS article: Did you have that urge to entertain, to please, as a boy? I suppose so. If you go into music, it's very rare that you're trying something that you don't care if people like it. It surprises me that there are some people who don't want to be liked - there are certain people, I'm sure, but I think it's just an image. It's the line in "Hey Jude" about being cool and making your world a bit colder. It's impossible for me to ever understand what happened with the Beatles then, especially from such a distance. All one can hope for is to be able to live a good life and eventually give something back. Learning to read between the lines is a difficult process which can at times lead to being misunderstood. Even by trained psychologists. However, I believe they are trained to lead folks to an epiphany, but there have been too many in my case to list here. "Never let the lizard brain send an email" works for me. In future, that is....You know my name, look up the number. And thank you, sir, thank you so very much. Besides, that's a bit off-topic: I guess they won't tour together, and the best thing to do now is to simply let it be. ...Where do they all belong, indeed?

The difference is that the Stones made soundboard recordings of all those tours in the 70's and beyond. The Beatles didn't. As pointed out by Giles Martin when remixing The Hollywood Bowl album, those were the only shows ever officially recorded of The Beatles live. Yes, there are some good recordings but they were all from filmed or TV performances.
