They got the guy..., I'm pretty sure.

Yes, they did, thankfully. Funny thing, the very first time I went to London, in 1980, I stayed very near there as well, in Tavistock Square!

at least they don't have guns over there. They also have CCTV everywhere which makes me feel much safer! You're going to have a great time!!

I feel safer without cameras everywhere, but I'm not used to living in places where people go around stabbing each other. But no guns there, so that's good. Would the United States be more stabby without all the guns?

Probably! And why would you feel safer without the cameras? Criminals know where they are and avoid them (well, smart ones anyway!)

I grew up without constant government surveillance. We used to keep our front door unlocked, believe it or not. I don't do that now, of course, but I'm used to walking down the street without being watched everywhere I go.

With all the books I read growing up, warning about cameras, there is still something about CCTV that makes me feel safe walking alone on London streets late at night. I've only felt unsafe once, when a foreign guy who sat across from me on the tubes, got off at my empty station, last minute. I ran and jumped back on as the doors were closing! Guns can mow down a lot of people, knives are less damaging and you have to be close to the person. That sounds safer than guns

The world has changed from when you could Go somewhere unknown and be comfortable and casual without looking around all the time. I hope you enjoy your trip like crazy While being aware and knowing how to have a good time too.

Thanks! It will be my 5th trip to London (4th to Liverpool) but my friend who's going with me has never been!! So excited to show her around.

That's probably true, but I still like to go to new, unknown places without being uncomfortable. There are some truly horrible people out there, but I think the overwhelming majority of people in the world are nice and friendly. You can find open arms anywhere you go as long as you look around and talk to people.
