Hillary and Paul are in love (LOL), just kidding Go, Hillary! You glow, girl

Wonder who Nancy will be voting for? Love where Paul said it was the first time he paid to hear himself sing.
-
Very disappointed. I think Paul should have stayed out of this very difficult election. I'm sure he is well-intentioned, but maybe ill-informed. Paul prides his Liverpool working class roots. Clinton is not a champion of the working class, but rather the elite class, the very people throwing hundreds of thousands of dollars around at this Hamptons event.

Yeah, but if that is true, that he paid, it's illegal to accept campaign contributions from foreign citizens! Nancy, of course, could donate, but it would have to be proved it was with her own money, and didn't come from Paul. As per the Supreme Court: Foreign nationals, other than lawful permanent residents, are completely banned from donating to candidates or parties, or making independent expenditures in federal, state or local elections. It is fundamental to the definition of our national political community that foreign citizens do not have a constitutional right to participate in, and thus may be excluded from, activities of democratic self-government," the district court's three-judge panel declared. It's illegal for foreign individuals, corporations and governments to either give money directly to U.S. candidates or spend on advertising to influence U.S. elections.

Here's what Paul actually said (since most media outlets have chosen to leave out the important second part of the quote): McCartney joked about Clinton's cash grab onstage, saying, "I have performed before and not gotten paid. But this is the first time in my entire life when I have paid to hear myself sing." And while the Democratic nominee is under pressure to ban foreign donations to the Clinton Foundation, the British-born star clarified, "Just kidding. I'm not allowed to contribute in your elections. But this is one when I would if I could." http://pagesix.com/2016/08/31/paul-mccartney-gets-cheeky-at-clinton-fundraiser/

Thanks Ane. I hate the media/social media sometimes.

You really think a longtime civil rights supporter like Paul would sit still for a bigot like Trump becoming president if he could help stop it? Hillary's not my ideal choice either, but sometimes the lesser of evils really is less evil.

Unfortunately, the nuance behind a choice like this is lost in a public festive endorsement of a candidate like this one. Since it is such a sticky one, as I said, I think he should have stayed out of it. I personally am not being coerced into choosing a lesser evil who shuns her party's progressive base.

Sorry this had to be my first post. I really am a fan, and have been since childhood when Paul first appeared on the family's little black & white TV one Sunday evening.

Paul has made no secret of his fondness for Obama. I would expect nothing less from him in this election cycle and Paul's wife and stepson can vote in the US. The Beatles were political and so is Paul No surprise there. Paul used Obama's face during Sing the Changes. Heard that get booed in Oklahoma and Texas. Paul received the Gershwin Prize and sang Michelle to Mrs. Obama at the White House. I think the Obamas and McCartneys like each other. Also, Hillary had stopped by to see Paul in Cleveland while both were in town.
-
I hope there won't be too much scrutiny by the news media and the US government campaign finance regulators about his appearance at the fundraiser. I'm very proud of Paul for standing up for his beliefs and wanting to be counted among those who are against prejudice and intolerance, and ideologies that would separate people, rather than bring us all together. He has the right to do that, even if he isn't able to vote or contribute financially. He spends a lot of time each year in the US, I'm sure he cares a great deal about our country, and the values that we stand for.

Trump is a scam artist and the Democrats are 10 times more likely to represent ALL Americans, than Republicans are (who are a special interest group by nature). Praises to Paul for always trying to do the good and correct thing, rather than the "right" thing.
-
Great that Sir Paul supports Hillary, and must have been a great party to boot! Sir Paul did not vote in his own country of the U.K. During the Brexit/Bremain though. ð??ºð??¸ð??¬ð??§

All of Paul's children, excepting Beatrice, are joint U.S./U.K. citizens and can vote. Paul's in-laws, John and Jodie Eastman, are also longtime Democratic fundraisers.
