Paul McCartney 2017 Rumors

Are there any sources for this assumption?
Yes, few months ago I read some information about it, but can't find it right now. It is something like Paul Anka, who postponed his European tour for eternity
I never knew this was ever said somewhere in public, but it's true. The plans for an European tour in 2016 got stalled after the Paris attacks. I was more surprised an European tour was considered at all. 1998 (?), 2011, that would be it, I thought. Anyway, I heard this through a friend who spoke to Steve Lukather after a Toto gig in The Netherlands last year. So there's that. I can't give you anything more than just having to take my word for it that I have no reason to make something random like this up, haha. It's a silly reason anyway. It's not like that was the first time terrorism from that angle took place in Europe. It's not like the areas he does play endlessly are free from terrorism.

I think he's a high profile artist, and one of the attacks in Paris happened at a concert. Didn't he play Europe last year, anyway?

Yeah, so? What difference would take make, haha. I understand where his fear comes from, but it are irrational gut feelings. If anything, it's more safe after something like that happens. Btw, McCartney played the exact stadium one of the attacks took place a few months before, and announced another gig in the city a few months after those attacks. And nope, one slow-selling beer hall tour in 2011 and then straight back to the US casinos. He played one gig at all in his whole career including The Beatles in The Netherlands, and it was that year. A short set at a festival.

Europe in May/June this year would not be surprising, as that's what he did in 2015 and 2016.

It would have been announced already. What seems likely to me, would be to release the album in June and tour the states (like usual) over the summer months, then take it back to Europe in Nov/Dec. Those "Christmas" tours always seemed to be a hit when he did them several years in a row, often concluding with the homecoming Liverpudlian gig!

Yea, it is irrational, but it somehow makes sence with Ringo, I remember this one interview in the Anthology video, where Ringo says that at one point in the sixties he was so scared of being shot by someone, that he played the Beatles concerts with his cymbals in the vertical position to protect him (I hope I say it correctly).

Yes, at this point anything is possible and all opinions are valid. Those US summer shows have been happening almost every year since 2009, so I would be surprised if it were different this time. I just don't think it's too late for Europe yet, as in 2015 the announcement was made on March 6th and tickets went on pre-sale on March 7th, 9th and 10th for the May/June/July shows: https://www.paulmccartney.com/news-blogs/news/paul-brings-out-there-tour-to-europe Last year the announcement came on March 9th with pre-sale tickets the following day for US and Germany shows in April/May/June: https://www.paulmccartney.com/news-blogs/news/first-dates-of-new-one-on-one-tour-confirmed I think it's still possible for him to make an announcement within the next week or two, as it would still be 2 months away from concerts in late May onwards.

we May hear an official word on at least one of those possible shows very soon. And I hear the 2 extra may have expanded to 3

Well, it looks like he will be doing 6 shows in Japan, right? But do you know anything about other countries after the Japanese concerts?

Shows building aroun what's already been announced. You do the math
-
If it is US - good for you all happy Americans and if he won't make Europe later - I will be very, very unhappy
-
I thought that was a rumor about another tour leg in May, but now I understand that is only adicional shows in Asia. So, we still don't know anything about Paul's next step
-
I can't handle the anticipation! Fingers crossed for Europe!
