-
I get to celebrate my birthday (June 1st) with a great local event for four days! The lineup is fantastic and I may get to meet Ken Scott after a lecture. I also get to meet Kit O Toole; whom my podcast has interviewed twice. Oh man - this is the University lecture I've been dreaming of! ====================================================== https://www.music.umich.edu/performances_events/sgt-pepper-symposium/index.htm http://www.music.umich.edu/performances_events/sgt-pepper-symposium/schedule.pdf Sgt. The "Summit of Creativity" conference will bring together prominent Beatles-based scholars, inner-circle figures, and journalists to lead a gathering of academics, students and the general public in exploring Pepper and its world. The event is to take place at the School of Music, Theatre and Dance, from the afternoon of Thursday through the morning of Sunday, June 1-4, 2017. Keynote Speakers: John Covach, University of Rochester Institute for Popular Music Anthony DeCurtis, University of Pennsylvania Walter Everett, University of Michigan Tim Riley, Emerson College Ken Scott, Leeds Beckett University Gordon Thompson, Skidmore College Ken Womack, Monmouth University Floor plan and aerial view of conference site Call for papers Facebook page Questions about the Symposium should be directed to: Walter Everett School of Music, Theatre & Dance University of Michigan Ann Arbor, MI48109-2085 734-763-2039 email: smtd-pepper@umich.edu

Sounds great! I will miss this by two weeks, as I'm heading into the A2 area in mid June.

I had a Rock Poetry class in high school in the '70s, and we studied the lyrics of the whole Sgt. Pepper album.
-
That should be fantastic! Please come back after and tell us all about it!

I wonder if they still have that class. Imagine being a teacher reading Kanye lyrics to your students.

Doubt if Kanye would be included in a "Rock Poetry" class! Maybe "Hip Hop Poetry!" Every other word would be the N-word or the F-word!
