The 2012 and beyond Political Thread - Part 2

I don't blame Trump. Well, I do. He warned us that he was evil during the election. Now, he's doing whatever he can get away with.
I blame the Democrats who didn't vote. They didn't like Clinton, so they stayed home. These are the consequences. For the president, your vote probably doesn't count. It's not a democracy. But when you stay home, that leaves out senators, representatives, governors, etc. who are elected by popular vote. The Democrats who stayed home because they hated Clinton ensured that Republicans had enough of a majority to bow down to Trump and put another 3 or 4 Republicans on the Supreme Court. Trump will be gone sooner or later, but his judicial appointments will last a generation.
A lot of Republicans hated Trump, but they showed up to vote anyway.

I grew up with a whole lot of children whose parents were Holocaust survivors. This is looking too much like that already. It is horrendous that someone thinks it’s OK to do that to children & babies who have no idea where their parents are at, much less, do it to try and get an 80 Million $$$ wall built. Why don’t we learn from History?
What was the deal with Melania’s coat? I can just imagine if Hillary did something like that to Bill... TOO CRAZY

Conservatives Are Very Liberal Toward Themselves And Very Conservative Towards Others. If They Were All Living On An Island Together Exclusively Inhabited By Conservatives, They Would Soon Realize The Importance Of Liberality

I think they are working on that island idea. It’s going to be called the US of US and not Them (See Hailey’s list and add a few more minority’s) is there a foster care program for the Mexican American children under 12 who are now taking care of their baby brothers and sisters?
Are people aware of this map? Just like the Indians, it appears the Mexicans were here first.

"You KNEW I was a snake before you let me in."
I'm no fan of Hillary Clinton. She was the second worst candidate running. But in the end, she was the only other option.
It was that well know bleeding-heart leftie PJ O'Rourke who said in endorsing Clinton, "She's wrong about everything, but she's wrong within normal parameters!"To steal a line regarding Australia's 2013 election, America decided to eat a shit sandwich just to prove how much they hate broccoli.

The hate mongering is the worst part. People who think that removing innocent children from parents and putting them in cages, is OK. It is NEVER OK. The fact that they cannot now match up children with their correct parent is making me think that when the parents were told their children would be adopted out...that that might have been the plan. Karma is always in effect.
Then the hate crimes, which seem to be OK with the haters... Get me out of here!!

Bigots don't care about logic. If you're not a white Christian male, you're a foreigner.

That sums up American politics beautifully.

Whenever I say Americans put party loyalty above anything else, people think I'm exaggerating. But this is a great example. If Obama had kidnapped children, you can bet every single Republican would have been morally outraged. But if a Republican does it, it's not so bad.
The funniest part - once you get past the whole kidnapping children part and see what a joke that country is becoming - is that a lot of Republicans are trying to claim that Obama started all of it. We know that's just another in a very long stream of lies, but even if it were true, that would still mean Republicans are ok with kidnapping children. For 8 years they complained about everything Obama did, or tried to do, or thought about doing. But they never complained about the kidnapping? You can call your poodle a pointer, but that dog don't hunt.

It's beyond just party loyalty. There's a whole universe of hate-based right-wingery centered around Fox News and right-wing talk radio that keeps people insulated in a little information bubble. They literally don't know what's happening because their chosen media outlets don't tell them, and they are fed a daily diet of fear and paranoia by the likes of Sean Hannity and Tucker Carlson.

DEAR AMERICAN VOTERS...

Have you seen the extremist/conspiracy websites where DJ and his fans get their "news"? They make Fox look like the New York Times. Fox is pure spin, but at least they'll tell you who won the Super Bowl or which celebrity just died. The extremist sites will never mention that unless they say the team that won was mind-controlled by Obama or the celebrity was murdered by Clinton.

Many were/are calling it "treason"--is that too harsh? I don't recall any other POTUS disparaging our own American institutions so much, so often especially while praising an enemy's.

Rockin' Robin...tweet tweet tweet!
With some of these old buzzards on Twitter texting out the fakest news, you'd think their posts would be referred to as, "Squawks" and 'Caws"!!!
One of the steps to tyranny is to try to make the news media look bad.
8. Control the press
Italy in the 1920s, Germany in the 30s, East Germany in the 50s, Czechoslovakia in the 60s, the Latin American dictatorships in the 70s, China in the 80s and 90s – all dictatorships and would-be dictators target newspapers and journalists. They threaten and harass them in more open societies that they are seeking to close, and they arrest them and worse in societies that have been closed already.

Treason is too far, I think. A willingness to kill people for a buck isn't treason. That's toxic capitalism. Hating every race and religion under the sun, except white Christians, isn't treason. That's bigotry. Confusion about recent history and contradicting himself from one sentence to the next isn't treason. That's dementia. Thinking he is the smartest, most handsome and best person on Earth, is incapable of empathy but needs constant validation isn't treason. That's narcissistic personality disorder. Being corrupt and inept isn't treason. That's politics.
But after 8 years of hearing the most extreme insults against Obama, it's no surprise that Democrats are fighting back. At least verbally.

The actions you cite are not treason. Conspiring with a hostile foreign power to interfere with U.S. democratic processes and giving them favors in return for their assistance arguably is, and a growing collection of circumstantial evidence suggests that's what Trump has done. The full story isn't written yet, but when it is I don't think it will be pretty.
