Verified Fan vs VIP
-
For the 3 new concerts just announced (Nrpew Orleans, Fort Wayne, and Phoenix) does anyone understand how VIP tickets work in conjunction with the verified fan situation? I’ve done verified fan tickets before with other events, but not where there are other options for VIP tickets. I need some guidance!

The pm.com presale code last go-around got all screwed up, so now they are going back to the verified fan thing AND asking you to pay $8 for an Egypt Station lanyard that gives you an extra chance to be picked?! WTF?!!
This means that even with 2 chances, you STILL might not be picked to participate in the presale! I don’t think it matters if you want regular or VIP tickets. Everybody is in the same sinking boat, DESPITE REPEATED WARNINGS!

Lemme get this right? They pick who can be in the presales even with ose two things? why bother to have those then? Makes no sense to me. I would like to be in the pre sale tickets for Los Angeles if he adds it.

Yes, it’s like a lottery. If you don’t buy the lanyard you have 1 chance/“Ticket” but you get 2 chances if you buy it. I have no idea how many people they pick, but it would be however many seats that they choose to make available for presale. Probably less, because one person can buy 4 seats is that correct?

They're not "asking you to pay $8 for an Egypt Station lanyard" but offering a digital copy of the album with a lanyard and laminate that also gives you a pre-access code - all for $8.
It's just another way to market the album. Paul runs a business - not a charity so he's trying to maximise sales of the album via different formats and routes.
It should be noted that this offer (excluisve to the US) is still chepaer than buying the download in the UK with no laminate or lanyard included - just the digital album.

This new style of presales is SO bad, seems to give no advantage to the Paul fans and in fact with Verified Fan it keeps many fans from accessing the PMcC presale. I'd suggest you look at the venue websites and Ticketmaster to see if there are other types of presales, such as American Express, venue presale, etc. In fact, I believe Amex presales begin TODAY 9/11 at 10AM local time. Good luck.

If you bought the album you can rip it to your hard drive. This is another way to sell the album but it is a crazy way for a fan to possibly get a chance for a ticket.

Some people don't have CD players in their PCs and laptops so the download is the perfect way to sell them an album plus the added incentive of the pre-sale code for a knock down price could be quite a draw - if you're in the US.

I am still not quite sure how the lanyards work, been busy w other things this weekend so haven't focused on those. But yes Verified Fan is a lottery no matter how TM tries to say differently. For the Canadian shows when it was used, it was not needed to buy a VIP package or ticket. Of course that could change for this onsale. I think you can only choose one city to try for a VF code.

“Asking” “Offering” - A matter of semantics. I meant that in order to get a 2nd chance in the “lottery” you have to pay $8!
I’m thankfully not in this position. I got tickets in Greenville, but only because I have an AMEX card, since the pm.com code presale was a total screw up!

Not semantics at all.
You're totally missing the point of the lanyard/laminate but nevermind.

The point is they are trying any means to promote Egypt Station, including screwing fans into paying $8 for a lanyard/laminate (and a digital download, I know!) in order to get a 2nd chance at the stupid lottery/verified fan thing! What other point is there? Please enlighten us!

I agree with you Nancy. I think it's just another way for them to make money. Why didn't they show this at first when all the album choices were shown. How many copies do they expect us to buy? And then as many say here, the show is geared toward the 1st timer. After we've bought 5 versions of Egypt Station. And we are still waiting for the deluxe version to come out!
