2018 Tour rehearsals in Quebec City
-
The Freshen Up Tour world premiere will be in Quebec City, Canada on September 17. Local news reports have said that McCartney's crew will start arriving in Quebec on Sept 5th and that the boss himself should be there a few days later. Officials at the Videotron Centre, the arena where the concert will take place, confirmed that the arena has been booked from Sept 5 to Sept 17 but declined to give further details.
This will be McCartney's third visit to Quebec in the last 10 years. In 2008, he played a free outdoor concert that drew upwards of 300,000 fans as part of the city's 400th anniversary celebrations. During that visit he was spotted having dinner in a trendy downtown restaurant and was seen biking in the huge park where the concert was taking place. In 2013 he returned to do another outdoor show in the same park and was once again seen biking around town. I briefly saw him when he left his hotel to go to the soundcheck that year.
Since this is the first concert of the tour, I'm guessing Paul will be in town for at least a few days, rehearsing the staging and other technical aspects of the show. Imagine being out and about sometime next week in Quebec City and running into the great man himself!

I live in Quebec City I just don't know what to do or where to go I'm so excited

That leaves about 8 or so days of rehearsals. Probably not even that many days, as I doubt Paul wants to sing every single day up to show day. Needs to rest the pipes before the first gig.
Not exactly tons of time to shakeup the setlist and rehearse.

Weren't there rehearsals over the summer in the UK as well? I'd like to think that with a new tour name (especially one like freshen up) and a new album...that we would get about ten new songs (including new album cuts) in the set.

I imagine there were, but it is a decent layoff in bewtween gigs. We will see what he brings out in NY on Friday

So Paul will not be in Quebec until at least this Saturday... he is doing a show at a secret location in New York City on Friday night. The show will be livestreamed on YouTube at 8pm ET.

Sadly, I doubt you will get that many changes. I expect the same three songs he played in Grand Central Station and maybe one more from Egypt Station. At most, he may bring back 1-2 Beatle songs he has not played in a few years. Hope I am wrong but truly doubt we will see anything really different beside the new album songs.

Sir Paul flew in yesterday from New York on his private jet and landed in Quebec City around 2:30pm. After dropping Nancy off at the hotel, he went straight to the concert hall to begin rehearsals. According to various reports, 14 songs were played on piano and guitar. There are no details on the selections of songs. He was back at the hotel around 7pm. He will no doubt be spotted around town in the coming days, eating in local restaurants or biking around as he did on his last two visits. Welcome back to Quebec Paul!

Article also mentions around 6000 fans from 13 countries, who live outside a 200km radius from Quebec City, will be attending.
Not surprised, really. I'm going to Edmonton and live in Vancouver. Also did Seattle and Desert Trip. So yeah, hardcore, baby.

Any indication if the horn section have been retained?

One would like to think that means 14 new songs are being considered. That doesn't mean they'll all make the cut. It could also mean there are like eight new songs and three slots that have two rotating songs or something like that...it coul dalso mean he was soundchecking and half of those are along the lines of "Matchbox"........
