Not even one song from Egypt Station? Another lost opportunity to introduce people to his new music.

Wow, that setlist has "oldies" act written all over it. He just makes me "shake my head" when he does thing like this setlist. He had the #1 album in the country and he can't squeeze one or two songs from his hit album into the abbreviated setlist.

Yes, great set list for a private party. I see nothing wrong with it at all. But don't you think at least one song from ES would have been a good idea?
BTW you can delete your duplicate post.

Yes it would have been nice for people who have have heard the album, remember you and I are die hard fans. I enjoy every set list I have heard over the years. I have probably seen more concerts than most on here, and as you can tell I REALLY REALLY enjoy them or I wouldn't go so often. I probably have explained how i feel about his set lists more than anyone wants to read again. Thats also how I feel when people give their opinion about his set lists on posts that are not set list related, granted they are commenting about the set list about a particular concert. BUT since his shows over the last 15 or so years are what they are I find it odd that people complain and expect something different than what he has done over and over again. Why do they complain and expect something HE has not done? To use a phrase it is what it is. Yes it would be nice if he played something from ES I agree with you, but if you read the complaints about the set lists there are many many songs that people complain about not hearing. I don't feel it's realistic to expect something he doesn't do. To repeat myself from other posts Yes I would love if he played the deep cuts I want to hear. Most people at his concerts are first or second timers and expect the BEATLE hits. Others don't but I find that understandable.
He played a private party and he did what 12 songs, Mainly Beatle songs (some Wings) he is the last of the 2 main singers from the most famous band of all time, IMO it would be wrong if he didn't play the songs he does. You don't have to agree with me, and I'm sure many who have a different opinion are tired of my SAME posts about his set list, as I am of theirs.
i apologize to people who are going to this topic to hear about the private party and are being subjected to Set List comments again. I don't think set list discussions should dominate and be discussed on so many topics it takes away from the forum and the individual topics

McCartney can play what he darn pleases especially for a private party. It just surprises me that he would not throw in at least one or two of his new songs because what the heck it was the #1 album in the country and he has singles being played on the radio. As for those of us who "complain" about his setlist, I think it is amusing that we get "flak" because we happen to think he has written some amazing music since his Beatle/Wings days and would love to hear more of it live. It comes up after every "new" tour because we hear things like the the set list will be "minty fresh" or is called the "Freshen Up" tour which kind of makes you think there will be some changes to get excited about. Regarding set list comments on other threads, if people put the songs he plays at a private party on a new thread, what is wrong about commenting about it on that thread. It puts in context what performance you are talking about instead of lumping it with comments about all his other tour setlists. Finally, myself and others have given up that he will ever go back to previous solo albums and play something like "Take It Away" etc live. We are just surprised that he is not playing more songs from his new album which he is promoting, has several singles being played on the radio, critically acclaimed and once again debuted at #1 in the US.

We can hope but to realistically expect something different and be disappointed when he doesn't do what he hasn't done in years is only hope.. There are people who love to discuss pro or con about his setlist, on the set list thread. IMO the shows are still amazing even though he's not changing or playing all the songs I want to hear, deep or popular cuts. Enjoy it while it lasts.

I wasn't the one that started this thread about his setlist at this private party. It was posted & I was just surprised that he didn't even play one song from his new album that reached #1. He's proud of that (apparently) and I would think it was a perfect opportunity to introduce some people to his new music. No deep cuts needed.
-
I'm happy somebody posted the set list and reported what was played. I'm not surprised if he only played 12 or so songs at a private party that songs from his new album were not played.
From what I read and what I have been told from someone at the show it was a great concert as well as a very enjoyable party.

I did not say you said it but I have read over time that people complain about some of us wishing he would play more of his solo songs in his set list. I have said very often that I fully expect him to play 25 Beatle/Wings hits to give the first timers a real good time and that is what they are paying top dollar to hear. I have just said I wish he would be more creative with the other 10 or more songs he plays and possibly play solo songs he has never done live. Like I said in my first post above, I have given up expecting him to go back deep into his solo catalog and play some of these great songs. I am just surprised and hope it changes that he has not done more songs from "Egypt Station" yet. I remember the 1989 and 1993 tours when he did 5-6 songs from FITD and OTG as soon as those tours started. Last point, if people don't like myself and others posts "complaining" about McCartney not playing incredible music from his solo career live they can always ignore them. I don't tell other people what to post, that is the beauty of a fan forum.

You can wish for him to play more of his solo stuff, you can wish for him to be more creative with 10 or more songs, but since they pertain to his set list shouldn't they be on the set list thread. This is a forum and of course you can post your opinion but put it in the thread it belongs in. So many threads have set list complaints instead of what the topic is. If i'm interested in the topic I go to read about the topic and to often it turns into set list discussions pro and con. I personally don't usually go to the set list thread, because most of what you and I wrote about it was written by us and others over and over and over again.

The setlist posted is not complete! He did more songs. I talked to someone who was there. She said she did not know his new songs, so he did play a few. He also did play "Hi Hi Hi" and "I've got a Feeling", I know because I saw a private brief video clip of it.
I thought it was a Patriots Organization event, but was actually a Billionaires Club event. No players.
He played for almost 2 hours.
BTW, James Corden was the MC. Said it was the richest group of people he has seen. Also said, "What do you do when you have lots of money, get James Corden and Paul McCartney to give a show on a Tuesday Night" (or words to that effect)

It is funny. I found out about it at 6pm the night of the show, and thought about just hanging outside to hear the show, but since I have to get up at 4am for work I passed. When I went to bed, I couldn't sleep thinking about the show...so I probably would have been better off going. Oh well.
The person I know who was there is a relative. She had a great time. She said that only about 150 people, very small group.
